Deliverance from Evil Spirits in Scripture

(Majority of following scriptures are from the King James translation.
Any words in parenthesis are our own insertions.)

1st JOHN 4:1 Beloved, believe not every SPIRIT, but test the SPIRITS to determine whether or not they are of GOD, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

ANTICHRIST
1st JOHN 2:22-23 Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the ANTICHRIST. He denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
1st JOHN 4:1-3 (KJV) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God, because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know you the Spirit of God. Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God. Every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God. This is that spirit of ANTICHRIST.

ASTROLOGY (horoscope-future based on position of stars)
ISAIAH 47:13KJV    You are wearied in the multitude of you counsels. Let now the ASTROLOGERS, stargazers, monthly prognosticators stand up and save you from these things that shall come upon you.
DANIEL 2:2 KJV    The king commanded to call the magicians, astrologers, sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to show the king his dreams.
DANIEL 5:11,15 KJV    "There is a man in your kingdom, in whom is the (holy) spirit of the holy gods. In the days of your father, light, understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him, whom the king Nebuchadnezzar, your father, the king, I say, your father, made master of the magicians, ASTROLOGERS, Chaldeans and soothsayers.

BEAST
REVELATION 13:16-17 He (the beast) causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond to receive a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads, that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark or the name of the BEAST or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding count the number of the BEAST, for it is the number of a man and his number is 666.

BROKEN SPIRIT
PSALM 51:17 KJV    The sacrifices of God are a BROKEN (wounded human) SPIRIT. A BROKEN and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.
PROVERBS 15:13 KJV    A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the SPIRIT is BROKEN.
PROVERBS 17:22 KJV    A merry heart does good like a medicine, but a BROKEN SPIRIT dries the bones.

CAPTIVITY
ROMANS 7:15-25 KJV I do that which I allow not. I do that what I would not. I do that what I hate. If I do that which I would not, then I consent to the law that it is good. Then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwells no good thing. To will is present with me. How to perform that which is good I find not. The good that I would, I do not. I do the evil which I would not. Now, if I do not that which I would, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwell in me. I find then a law, that when I would do good, evil (spirit) is present with me. I delight in the law of God after the inward man, but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind and bringing me into CAPTIVITY to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord (that Jesus is our solution to this problem). (Spiritual insight = evil mentioned is the evil spirit on assignment against us through inherited curses plus current issues not yet fixed through the intervention of the Holy Spirit. Even Christ and His disciples had to experience human nature plus crucifixions.) (This also is an illustration of where inside a person, such as an apostle of Christ, can exist the Holy Spirit, an evil spirit, and the human spirit.)

CHARMER or CHARMING
DEUTERONOMY 18:9-12 KJV You shall not learn to do after the abomination of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, uses divination, (or is) an observer of times, an enchanter, a witch, CHARMER, consulter with familiar spirits, wizard, or necromancer, for all that do these things are an abomination to the Lord.

CONDEMNS
ROMANS 8:31-34 KJV If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all. Shall He not also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifies. Who is he that CONDEMNS? (Certainly, it is Not God!)

CURSEs
DEUTERONOMY 28:1,15,28-29 KJV    If you hearken diligently to the voice of the Lord your God to observe and do all His commandments which I command you this day, the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth and all these blessings shall come on you and overtake you, if you shall hearken to the voice of the Lord your God...It shall come to pass, if you will not hearken to the voice of the Lord your God to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command you this day, all these CURSES shall come upon you and overtake you...The Lord shall smite you with madness, blindness, and astonishment of heart. You shall grope at noonday, as the blind gropes in darkness. You shall not prosper in your ways. You shall be only oppressed and spoiled evermore. No man shall save you. (Curses can be inherited. We need to apologize to God for both our sins and our ancestors sins.)
MALACHI 3:8-10 KJV    "You have robbed Me. But you say, 'Where have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a CURSE, for you have robbed Me. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in My house and prove Me now here," says the Lord of hosts (and see) if I will not open (to) you the windows of heaven and pour out (upon) you a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."
REVELATION 22:3 KJV    There shall be no more curse.

CURSED
DEUTERONOMY 27:15-26 KJV CURSED be he that sets light by (disgraces, dishonors) his father or his mother....CURSED be he that removes his neighbor's landmark...CURSED be he that makes the blind to wander out of the way...CURSED be he that perverts the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow...CURSED be he that lies with his father's wife, because he uncovers his father's skirt...CURSED be he that lies with any beast...CURSED be he that lies with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother...CURSED be he that lies with his mother in law...CURSED be he that smites his neighbor secretly...CURSED be he that takes reward to slay an innocent person...CURSED be he that confirms not all the words of this law to do them. (Even the victim of an above assault is under a curse and needs to forgive his/her victimizer plus apologize to God for that sin committed in past generations, lest there be an open door of opportunity for Satan to enter, as through bitterness, for example. If there is a family history of incest, there may be a familial or family spirit of incest waiting to pounce, perhaps on your child or grandchild. We need to bind, in he name of Jesus, all satanic inherited strongholds.)

CUT
DEUTERONOMY 14:1 KJV You are the children of the Lord your God. You shall not CUT yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.
1st KINGS 18:28 They (the prophets of the god Baal) cried aloud and CUT themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.

DEAF SPIRIT
MARK 9:17-29 MASTER, I have brought YOU my son, which as a DUMB SPIRIT. Wherever IT takes him, IT tears him; he foams, gnashes his teeth and pines away. I spoke to YOUR disciples that they should cast IT out. They could not. HE answered him, "O faithless generation, how long shall I suffer you? Bring him to ME." They brought him to HIM. When HE saw him, immediately the (evil) SPIRIT tore him; he fell on the ground and wallowed foaming. HE asked his father, "How long has it been since THIS came to him?" He replied, "Since a child. IT has often cast him into the fire and into water to destroy him. If YOU can do anything, have compassion on us and help us." JESUS said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes." Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, "LORD, I believe; help my unbelief." When JESUS saw that the people were coming running, HE rebuked the FOUL SPIRIT, saying to IT, "You DUMB and DEAF SPIRIT, I charge you, come out of him and enter no more into him. The (EVIL) SPIRIT cried, attacked him badly, and came out of him. He appeared dead, but JESUS took him by the hand and lifted him up. When HE went back to the house, HIS disciples asked HIM privately, "Why could we not cash IT out?" He replied, "This kind can come forth by nothing but prayer and fasting."

DELIVER
PSALM 31:2: KJV    (God), bow down Your ear to me. Deliver me speedily. Be my strong rock, a house of defense to save me.
JEREMIAH 15:21 KJV    I will DELIVER you out of the hand of the wicked. I will redeem you out of the hand of the terrible.
MATTHEW 6:13 NIV    DELIVER us from the evil one.

DELIVERANCE
OBADIAH 17 (KJV)    Upon mount Zion shall be DELIVERANCE (from evil), and (next) there shall be holiness (spiritual maturity before God); and (finally) the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions (spiritual inheritance).
ISAIAH 61:1-3 (KJV)    The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the meek. He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to them that are bound, and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord
...to comfort all that mourn...to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified.
LUKE 4:18 (KJV)    The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach DELIVERANCE to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised (oppressed), and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

DELIVERS
PSALM 34:18-19 NIV The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord DELIVERS him from them all.
PSALM 97:10 KJV He DELIVERS them out of the hand of the wicked.

DEMON-possessed (demonized)
MATTHEW 4:24 NIV     People brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering sever pain, the DEMON-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and He healed them.
MATTHEW 8:16-17    When evening came, any who were DEMON-possessed (demonized) were brought to Him, and He drove out the spirits with a word and healed ALL the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases."
MATTHEW 8:28-32 KJV    When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes 2 DEMON-possessed men coming from the tombs met Him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. "What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have You come here to torture us before the appointed time?" Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. The demons begged Jesus, "If You drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs." He said to them, "Go!"
MATTHEW 9:32 NIV    A man who was DEMON-possessed and could not talk was brought to Jesus. When the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke.
MATTHEW 12:22 NIV    They brought Him a DEMON-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed Him, so that he could both talk and see.
MARK 1:32-34 NIV    The people brought to Jesus all the sick and DEMON-possessed. The whole town gathered at the door and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but He would not let the demons speak.
MARK 5:12-18 NIV    The demons begged Jesus, "Send us among the pigs. Allow us to go into them" He gave them permission and the evil spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about 2000 in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned. Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind.
MARK 7:25-26,28-30 NIV    A woman whose little daughter was possessed by an evil spirit came and fell at His feet. The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the DEMON out of her daughter..."Lord", she replied, "but even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs." Then He told her, "For such a reply, you may go. The DEMON has left your daughter." She went home and found her child lying on the bed and the DEMON gone.
LUKE 4:33 NIV    In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a DEMON, an evil spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, "Ha! What do You want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are, the Holy One of God!" "Be quiet!" Jesus said sternly, "Come out of him!" Then the DEMON threw the man down before them and came out without injuring him.

When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at His feet, shouting at the top of his voice, "What do You want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, don't torture me!" Jesus had commanded the evil spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places. Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" "Legion," he replied, because many demons had gone into him. They begged him repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss. A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into them, and He gave them permission.

ACTS 19:13 NIV    Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were DEMON-possessed. They would say, "In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out."   7 sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day the evil spirit answered the, "Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.

DEMONs
MARK 1:39      He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee and casting out DEMONs.
MARK 6:13     They cast out many DEMONs, anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.
MARK 16:9     When He (Jesus Christ) rose (from the dead) on the 1st day of the week,
                        He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast 7 DEMONS.
MARK 16:17    These signs will accompany those who believe.
                        In My name they will drive out DEMONS.
LUKE 4:40-41 All those, who had anyone sick with various diseases, brought them to Him. He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them. DEMONs also came out of many, crying out.
LUKE 10:17      Lord, even the DEMONs are subject to us in Your name.
LUKE 11:20      If I cast out DEMONs with the finger of God, surely,
                         the kingdom of God has come upon you.
LUKE 13:32       I cast out DEMONs and perform cures today and tomorrow,
                         and the 3rd day I shall be perfected.
1st CORINTHIANS 10:20-21    The things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to DEMONs and not to God. I do not want you to have fellowship with DEMONs. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of DEMONs. You cannot partake of the Lord's table and of the table of DEMONs.

DEVIL (name for Satan, per Derek Prince, incorrectly often used in the plural)
MATTHEW 12:28    If I cast out DEVILs (demons) by the Spirit of God,
                               then the Kingdom of God is come unto you.
MARK 16:9 After JESUS rose, early the first day of the week, HE appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom HE had cast 7 devils (demons).   (Derek Prince reminds us not to be ashamed if we have a demon that needs to be cast out, or have had one cast out. Look at the honor paid Mary here in scripture.)
MARK 16:15-18 KJV    He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believes and is baptized shall be saved. He that believes shall not be damned. These signs shall follow them that believe: In My name shall they cast out DEVILs (demons). They shall speak with new tongues. They shall take up serpents. If they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them. They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.
LUKE 4:2    Being tempted 40 days by the DEVIL.
LUKE 4:3    The DEVIL said to Him
LUKE 4:6    The DEVIL said to Him   (Spiritual insight = The devil does have conversations with humans.)
JOHN 8:44 KJV    You (men) are of your father the DEVIL. The lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.
JOHN 13:2 KJV    Supper now being ended, the DEVIL now put (it) into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray Him (Jesus).
EPHESIANS 6:11-12KJV    Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles (schemes/trickery) of the DEVIL, for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places.
HEBREWS 2:14-15 NIV    His death might destroy him who holds the power of death - that is, the DEVIL - and free those who all their lives were held in slavery.
1st PETER 5:8-9    Be sober. Be vigilant, because your adversary the DEVIL walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
1st JOHN 3:8    For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the DEVIL.
REVELATION 12:7-12  LBV
There was war in heaven; Michael and the angels under his command fought the Dragon and his hosts of fallen angels. And the Dragon lost the battle and was forced from heaven. This great Dragon-the ancient serpent called the DEVIL, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world-was thrown down onto the earth with all his army. The great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the DEVIL and (or) Satan, who deceives the whole world. He was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, strength, the kingdom of our God and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down."
Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, "It has happened at last! God's salvation and the power and the rule, and the authority of His Christ are finally here; for the Accuser of our brothers has been thrown down from heaven onto earth-he accused them day and night before our God. (If our sins are forgiven, then our accusing thoughts are from Satan.) They defeated him by the blood of the Lamb (Jesus Christ), and by their testimony; for they did not love their lives but laid them down for Him. Rejoice, O heavens! You citizens of heaven, rejoice! Be glad! But woe to you people of the world, for the DEVIL has come down to you in great anger, knowing that he has little time."
REVELATION 16:13-14 KJV    I saw 3 unclean spirits, like frogs, come out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. They are the (evil) spirits of DEVILs (demons), working miracles.

DOCTRINES OF DEMONS
1st TIMOTHY 4:1 KJV The (Holy) Spirit speaks expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and DOCTRINES of DEVILS (demons).

DOMINION
GENESIS 1: 26-28 KJV God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness. Let them have DOMINION over the fish of the sea, over the fowl of the air, over the cattle, over all the earth, and over every creeping thing"...God, created man in His Own image, in the image of God created He him, male and female created He them. God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth, and subdue it. Have DOMINION over the fish of the sea, over the fowl of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth." (see Myles Munroe's book Prayer)
PSALM 199:133 KJV Order my steps in Your Word and let not any iniquity have DOMINION over me.

DOMINIONS
DANIEL 7:27 KJV    All DOMINIONS shall serve Him
COLOSSIANS 1:16    By Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, DOMINIONS (powers), rulers, or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things and in Him all things hold together.

DRAGON
PSALM 91:13 KJV
ISAIAH 27:1 KJV    In that day the Lord with His sore, great, and strong sword shall punish LEVIATHAN the piercing serpent, even LEVIATHAN that crooked serpent. He shall slay the DRAGON that is in the sea. (See The Witch Doctor & the Man book below. Chapter 5 = The City Under the Sea)
JEREMIAH 51:34-37 KJV    "Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me. He has crushed me. He has made me an empty vessel. He has swallowed me up like a DRAGON. He has filled his belly with my delicacies. He has cast me out. The violence dome to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon," shall the inhabitant of Zion say. "My blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea," shall Jerusalem say. Therefore says the Lord, "Behold, I will plead your cause and take vengeance for you. I will dry up her sea and make her springs dry. Babylon shall become heaps, a dwelling place for DRAGONS, an astonishment, a hissing without an inhabitant."
EZEKIEL 29:3,9 KJV    Thus says the Lord God, "Behold, I am against you Pharaoh king of Egypt. The great DRAGON that lies in the midst of its rivers has said, 'My river is my own and I have made it for myself.'...The land of Egypt shall be desolate and waste. They shall know that I am the Lord,   because he has said, 'The river is mine and I have made it.'"
REVELATION 12:1-17  LBV
Then a great pageant appeared in heaven, portraying things to come. I saw a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon beneath her feet, and a crown of 12 stars on her head. She (Mary) was pregnant and screamed in the pain of her labor, awaiting her delivery. Suddenly a red DRAGON (Satan) appeared, with 7 heads and 10 horns, and 7 crowns on his heads. His tail drew along behind him a 3rd of the stars (angels), which he plunged to the earth. He (in Herod) stood before the woman as she was about to give birth to her child, ready to eat the baby (Christ) as soon as it was born. She gave birth to a boy Who was to rule all nations with a heavy hand, and He was caught up to God and to His throne. The woman fled into the wilderness, where God had prepared a place for her, to take care of her 1,260 days (3.5 years).
Then there was war in heaven; Michael and the angels under his command fought the DRAGON and his hosts of fallen angels. And the DRAGON lost the battle and was forced from heaven. This great DRAGON-the ancient serpent called the Devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world-was thrown down onto the earth with all his army. (Insight = If Satan could con 3rd of all angels and Eve, he is able and willing to con you and me. Thank God for the Holy Spirit's discernment and power to defeat, when we call Jesus' name.)
The great DRAGON was cast out, that serpent of old, called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world. He was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And when the DRAGON found himself cast down to earth, he persecuted the woman who had given birth to the child (Jesus). But she was given 2 wings like those of a great eagle, to fly into the wilderness to the place prepared for her, where she was cared for and protected from the Serpent (who is mentioned in Genesis in the garden of Eden), the DRAGON, for 3 and a half years (time of Christ's ministry). (A Dragon dinosaur can be found in Job 40:15 and Job 41:1)
And from the Serpent's mouth a vast flood of water gushed out and swept toward the woman in an effort to get rid of her; but the earth helped her by opening its mouth and swallowing the flood
(May be the flood of Noah's time or what some call the Great Ice Age.)
Then the furious DRAGON set out to attack the rest of her children
(descendents of Adam/Noah/Abraham or spiritual children of God)
-all who were keeping God's commandments and confessing that they belong to Jesus.
He (the dragon or Satan) stood on an ocean beach.
(ready to attack by submitting evil invisible detrimental thoughts)

DRAGONS
PSALM 44:19 KJV    You have sore broken us in the place of DRAGONS and covered us with the shadow of death.
PSALM 74:13-14 KJV    You did divide the sea by Your strength. You broke the heads of the DRAGONS in the waters. You broke the heads of leviathan (extinct dinosaur?) in pieces and gave him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.

EVIL SPIRIT
JUDGES 9:23 KJV    God sent (allowed) an EVIL SPIRIT (of ill will) between Abimelech and the men of Shechem. The men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech.
1st SAMUEL 16:14 The (HOLY) SPIRIT OF THE LORD departed from Saul and an EVIL SPIRIT (permitted) from the LORD troubled him.
1st SAMUEL 16:23 When the EVIL SPIRIT (permitted) from GOD was upon Saul, then David took a harp and played with his hand; Saul was refreshed and was well, because the EVIL SPIRIT had departed from him.
1st SAMUEL 18:10-11 KJV    The EVIL SPIRIT (allowed) from God came upon Saul and he prophesied. David played with with his hand, as at other times. There was a javelin in Saul's hand. Saul cast the javelin, for he said, "I will smite David even to the wall with it." David avoided out of his presence twice.

One day the EVIL SPIRIT answered them, "Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" Then the man who had the EVIL SPIRIT jumped on them and overpowered them all.

PROVERBS 11:13 KJV A talebearer (gossip) reveals secrets, but he that is of a FAITHFUL SPIRIT conceals the matter.

LEVITICUS 19:31 KJV    Regard not them that have FAMILIAR SPIRITS. Neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by the. I am the Lord your God.

FOUL SPIRIT
MARK 9:17-29 MASTER, I have brought YOU my son, which as a DUMB SPIRIT. Wherever IT takes him, IT tears him; he foams, gnashes his teeth and pines away. I spoke to YOUR disciples that they should cast IT out. They could not. HE answered him, "O faithless generation, how long shall I suffer you? Bring him to ME." They brought him to HIM. When HE saw him, immediately the (EVIL) SPIRIT tore him; he fell on the ground and wallowed foaming. HE asked his father, "How long has it been since THIS came to him?" He replied, "Since a child. IT has often cast him into the fire and into water to destroy him. If YOU can do anything, have compassion on us and help us." When HE went back to the house, HIS disciples asked HIM privately, "Why could we not cash IT out?" He replied, "This kind can come forth by nothing but prayer and fasting."

FOWLERs
PSALM 91:3 KJV    Surely, He shall deliver you from the snare (trap) of the FOWLER (bird hunter) and from the noisome (noxious, offensive) pestilence. (Fowler is used here as a spiritual metaphor for Devil.)
PSALM 124:7-8 KJV    Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the FOWLERs. The snare is broken and we are escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
PROVERBS 6:5 KJV    Deliver yourself as a roe (deer) from the hand of the hunter and as a bird from the hand of the FOWLER.

HOPE
1st THESSALONIANS 5:8 KJV Let us who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love and for a helmet (to protect our minds), the HOPE of salvation.
HEBREWS 6:18 KJV We might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the HOPE set before us.
HEBREWS 6:19-20 NIV We have this HOPE as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf.

LEVIATHAN
JOB 41:1-10 KJV    Can you draw out LEVIATHAN (sea creature or dinosaur) with a hook or his tongue with a cord which you let down? He said, "I will go forth and I will be a LYING SPIRIT in the mouth of all his prophets." Therefore, behold, the Lord has put (allowed) a LYING SPIRIT in the mouth of all these your prophets.
2nd CHRONICLES 18:20-22 KJV There came out a spirit and stood before the Lord and said, "I will entice him." The Lord said to him, "Wherewith?" He said, "I will go out and be a LYING SPIRIT in the mouth of all his prophets." The Lord said, "You shall entice him and you shall also prevail; go out and do even so. The Lord has put (allowed) a LYING SPIRIT in the mouth of these your prophets.

They cried out, saying, "What have we to do with YOU, JESUS, YOU son of GOD? Have YOU come here to torment us before the time?" There was a long way off from them a herd of many swine feeding. The DEVILS sought HIM, saying, "If YOU cast us out, allow us to go away into the herd of swing." HE said to them, "Go." When they were come out, they went into the herd of swine. The whole herd of pigs ran violently down a steep place into the sea and perished.
MATTHEW 9:32-33 They brought to HIM a dumb man possessed with a devil (demonized). When the devil was cast out, the dumb spoke. The multitudes marveled, saying, "It was never so seen in Israel."
MATTHEW 12:22 Then was brought to HIM one POSSESSED WITH A DEVIL (demonized), blind and dumb. HE healed him, so much that the blind and dumb man both spoke and saw.
MATTHEW 17:14-21    There came to HIM a certain man, kneeling down to HIM and saying, "LORD, have mercy on my son, for he is a LUNATIC and sore vexed; often he falls into the fire and often into the water. MARK 1:32-34    They brought to Him all who were sick and those who were DEMON-POSSESSED (demonized). The whole city was gathered together at the door. He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. He did not allow the demons to speak.
LUKE 8:35-36 KJV    They went out to see what was done, came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind. They were afraid. They also, who saw it, told them by what means he was POSSESSED OF THE DEVILS (demonized) was healed.

PSALM 106:8-9 KJV He saved them for is name's sake, that He might make His might power to be known. He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up, so He led them through the depths, as through the wilderness. He saved them.

NAHUM 1:3- KJV The clouds are the dust of His feet. And when the DRAGON found himself cast down to earth, he persecuted the woman who had given birth to the child (Jesus). But she was given 2 wings like those of a great eagle, to fly into the wilderness to the place prepared for her, where she was cared for and protected from the SERPENT (found in the garden of Eden), the DRAGON, for 3 and a half years
(time of Christ's ministry). (A Dragon dinosaur can be found in Job 40:15 and Job 41:1)
And from the SERPENT's mouth a vast flood of water gushed out and swept toward the woman in an effort to get rid of her; but the earth helped her by opening its mouth and swallowing the flood
(of Noah's time or what some call the Great Ice Age).

(Spiritual insight = We may copy scripture by binding the enemy and then placing him under the feet of Christ.)

UNCLEAN SPIRIT
ZECHARIAH 13:2 (KJV)    I will cause the prophets and the UNCLEAN SPIRITS to pass out of the land.
MATTHEW 12:43-45 When the UNCLEAN SPIRIT is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, I will return into my house from where I came out. When he is come, he finds it empty (because the man did not ask Jesus' Holy Sprit to move in.), swept and garnished. Then goes he, and takes with himself 7 other spirits more wicked than himself. They enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man is worse than the first.

MARK 3:11 (KJV)    UNCLEAN SPIRITS, when they saw Him, fell down before Him and cried, saying, "You are the Son of God."
MARK 5:12-13 (KJV)    All the devils (demons) besought Him saying, "Send us into the swine (pigs) that we may enter into them." Jesus gave them leave. The UNCLEAN SPIRITS went out and entered into the swine and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea.
ACTS 5:15-16    They brought forth the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. There came also a multitude (out of the cities about Jerusalem) bringing sick folks and those tormented by UNCLEAN SPIRITs; they were all healed.
ACTS 8:7 (KJV)    UNCLEAN SPIRITs, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed (demonized), palsied and lame.
REVELATION 16:13-14 KJV    I saw 3 UNCLEAN SPIRITS, like frogs, come out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. They are the (evil) spirits of devils (demons), working miracles.

WOUNDED SPIRIT
PROVERBS 18:14 The spirit of man will sustain his infirmity, but a WOUNDED SPIRIT who can bear?

Warning:
Where or when demons are cast out; it may be a throw away victory for those (prior or subsequently) not grounded in the gospel of Jesus Christ, because Satan may reoccupy. It is of little use to: save the mind and lose the soul/spirit; to win the battle and lose the war. See Matthew 12:45.

Pat Holliday in her book Deliverance www.patholliday.org warns us to lead the person in a confession of his specific sins, which he needs to renounce, as they have been open doors for the spirits to enter, and are spiritual roots that need to be specifically rejected and placed under the feet of Jesus. Pat calls this breaking Satan's legal right or entitlement to oppress us. Jesus needs to occupy the heart of the individual, for one will not have the wisdom, skill, nor the strength to resist the return of the enemy. If one's heart is empty of a spirit, there is a vacant sign on the door of the heart. If the Holy Spirit occupies the heart, then we have a 24 hour a day policeman on duty. Second, per Pat, before deliverance, the individual needs a prayer partner to walk and pray with daily, to cover him with prayers of protection; plus, he needs to be given the tools to resist the enemy when he comes and tries to reenter. For instance, the baptism of the Holy Spirit is protection. Pat contends that we war with both the fallen human spirit or human nature and the evil spirit. She says the way to distinguish between the 2 is to recognize that an evil spirit will (1) enslave, (2) defile and or (3) torment, especially at night when our defenses are down. Alot of oppressed people have night terrors. If the Person has Jesus in his heart, we can command the demons to go, in the name of Jesus. However, demons go, not because we may know their name, but because we know the name of Jesus.

Derek Prince in They Shall Expel Demons has some ground rules for praying for "deliverance" for others: be under authority, minister at least in pairs (Jesus sent his disciples out in pairs.), never minister alone to the opposite sex, rely on the atonement of Christ and not on our authority, and speak the word of God to the enemy. Better still, read this book, for one, before ever attempting deliverance on behalf of another. Chapter 20 Demons of Sickness and Infirmity shares a few testimonies of diseases cured by deliverance from demons plus healing prayers, rather than by traditional healing prayers only: Epilepsy, Blindness, Deafness, Muteness, Arthritis, Death, Multiple Sclerosis and Stroke. Prince likes to locate the door of a demon's entry into a life, so the door can be closed. Sometimes only the Lord can reveal this.

Derek Prince mentored Benny Hinn, as Benny came to realize the validity of a deliverance ministry. Benny mentions that in 1973 a demon left him, a Christian. Benny believes that a Christian can be oppressed but not possessed. Benny's wife Suzanne inherited the mantle of her mom, who with her husband had a deliverance ministry, given to them by God Himself. Benny Hinn says there is sometimes a different anointing for a healing ministry than for a deliverance ministry and it can be at times perceived in the atmosphere.

Regarding EPHESIANS 6:11-12KJV Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles (schemes/trickery) of the devil, for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places.

Pastor Kanco says in Witch doctor and the Man, 4th Generation Witch Doctor Finds Christ that Esphesians shows the chain of command after Satan (1): principalities (2) are the strongmen in the heavenlies (middle heaven) over the strongman/stronghold in the person.

The Strongman needs to be bound first per MATTHEW 12:29 How can one enter a STRONG MAN's house and plunder his goods, unless he first BINDS THE STRONG MAN? Then he will plunder his house.

Then comes powers (3), rulers (4), and finally wickedness (5). All are invisible spiritual entities. However, God has His own invisible army which is always superior to Satan's. Finally, one will notice that the invisible spirits are no longer invisible to more and more of mankind. We will discover from reading and eventually we will discover in our own private prayer life, that the invisible becomes visible, not after we are dead, but now as God readies, not to deliver just a few of us, but the entire world.

Demons will not molest anyone spiritually stronger than themselves, lest the curse/spell backfire on them, per Kanco. Demons can tell by the amount of Jesus light radiating from the person. However, most so called Christians need to be delivered immediately after salvation to rid themselves of the demons who dwell in them due to family curses or past sins/strongholds that have not been renounced. For instance, if a born again person smokes or drinks hard liquor from time to time, as a small example, then he still considers himself to be born again and not demon possessed. Anything which got a foothold in the person before salvation is a sin, is of the flesh, and will need to be bound and cast out. To the degree that Christ is foremost and the flesh is least, will be the degree that one has liberty. Perhaps anger is more apt. If I allow my anger to erupt from time to time so that I hurt my child out of rage and not out of love, then I am allowing the demon of rage in me to be in control. Pat contends that many are becoming demonized, with little hope of deliverance, due to the fact that the majority of people refuse to accept the fact that demons exist, like the ostrich that sticks its head in sand. Second, most seminaries have never taught about witchcraft or occult manifestations, nor have most denominations called upon their pastors to deal with someone who is under the influence of evil spirits.
Pat says that Satan may attack the soul (mind/emotions/memory/will), body or spirit, causing disease or mental illness. James 4:7 instructs Christians to resist the Devil (not to ignore him). Pat's definition of possession is when an evil spirit controls one to the extent that the person cannot exert his own will. Man may have forfeited his dominion through the disobedience of Adam and Eve, when Satan, a spirit, borrowed the body of a snake to talk to, trick, and deceive Eve. Monroe reminds us that it is God who fathered Christ and not Joseph. Christ is of the blood line of God. That is one reason the blood of Christ has so much power. In Exodus 29:20, Leviticus 8:23, and Leviticus 14:14-28 when the priest in the Old Testament marked the priests with the blood of the ram, it was an illustration of what happens in the invisible spiritual world to those of us who are marked by the blood of the Lamb when we take Jesus as our Savior. Munroe contends that the evil spirits must keep their distance when they see the blood of Christ on our right ear, our right thumb and our right big toe. (It is interesting that Peter cut off the "right ear" of the high priest's servant. Luke 22:50 and John 18:10.) Munroe says that Satan cannot read our thoughts, as he cannot be everywhere as God is. However, his helpers can watch what we do and listen to what we say and report back to Satan.

Because of the healings in his Georgia ministry, Henry believes that most all disease is from the evil spirit of bitterness, unforgiveness, anger, fear, etc which needs to be repented of because it is sin. Henry believes that Jesus obtained for us both forgiveness and healing on the cross. He teaches that if the disease is still there after repenting, then we need to also repent of the sins of our parents and forefathers, as we often inherit disease/sin/evil spirits. We need to learn what our spiritual inheritance - from God is. We need to claim that. No one need be sick. He goes one step further by suggesting that specific diseases usually have a single root sin. For instance, if you tell him you have eye problems, he might suggest that you have a critical spirit. If that is true, he might ask you who it is that has a beam in his eye, so that you then might first remove the log in your own eye, according to scripture.
