SOD (super oxide dismutase) and catalase enzymes can be boosted by adding cantaloupe/melon & sprouts of wheat, corn or soy to one's diet. SOD may lower the blood levels of hydrogen peroxide to reduce inflammation. (In low dosage hydrogen peroxide is useful to kill viruses & bacteria.) SOD may also protect against irradiation/sunburn/UV light. Catalase is the enzyme that converts hydrogen peroxide to water. High levels of hydrogen peroxide may contribute to inflammation. 2005/2006 special winter edition www.lef.org |
