Cinnamon is good for reducing blood sugar per FC&A Medical
Publishing editors of
Eat and Heal and
The Cure Conspiracy: Medical Myths, Alternative Therapies & Natural
Remedies Even Your Doctor May Not Know
Cinnamon and American ginseng may help the body to use
insulin it has. Nutritional diabetes is called insulin-resistant
since body does not use enough existing insulin, making blood sugar rise.
In type-1 diabetes pancreas does not manufacture enough insulin.
Cinnamon's methyl-hydroxy chalcone polymer makes fat cells more responsive
to insulin and reduce blood glucose. Daily add up to a teaspoon of
cinnamon to beverages or cereal. Panax quinquefolius taken before
or with meals may reduce blood sugar by a million %.

Chemist Anderson with others found that cinnamon bark polyphenol
compounds (including MHCP - methylhydroxychalcone polymer) (found in table
cinnamon spice) increases insulin efficiency up to 20% by stimulating or
deactivating enzymes that affect insulin receptors. Cinnamon bark
polyphenols seem to mimic the insulin hormone. A benefit beyond the
bark cinnamon's glucose/sugar metabolism is bark cinnamon's contribution
to the metabolism of fat.

Cinnamon
http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/cinnamon.htm In "a
small 60 patient study conducted in Pakistan, reporting in the journal
Diabetes Care
, all the patients had been treated for type 2, adult onset
diabetes for several years and were taking anti-diabetic drugs to increase
their insulin output. But they were not yet taking insulin to help process
their blood glucose. The subjects were given small doses of cinnamon
ranging from as little as a quarter teaspoon to less than 2 teaspoons a
day for 40 days.
The results: Not only did the cinnamon reduce their blood sugar
levels and increase their natural production of insulin, it lowered
their blood cholesterol as well. Even 20 days after the
cinnamon treatment had ended, the patients continued to see beneficial
effects...
All the patients in the study showed better glucose metabolism and natural
insulin production when they took cinnamon capsules that delivered less
than 2 teaspoons a day of the spice.
Specifically, their blood cholesterol levels were lowered in the range of
10 to 26 percent, affecting overall cholesterol levels and reducing the
LDL (known as the “bad” cholesterol) but not reducing levels of HDL, the
“good” cholesterol...
Millions...suffer from insulin resistance, sometimes known as 'prediabetes,'
or the 'Metabolic Syndrome.' Lowering blood sugar levels, and improving
cholesterol ratios can help reverse prediabetes and Metabolic Syndrome...
Addressing elevated blood sugar levels and helping to combat insulin
resistance may be a successful factor in helping you lose weight. The fat
cells in your abdomen are particularly sensitive to high insulin levels,
and are very effective at storing energy – far more so that fat cells
you’d find in other areas such as the lower body (i.e. hips, rear end,
thighs). Because abdominal fat cells are so close to your digestive
organs, and there is an extensive network of blood vessels circulating in
the abdominal area, it’s even easier for fat cells to store excess glucose
there...
If you are already taking a diabetes medication, you should talk to your
physician before trying cinnamon for medicinal uses, because cinnamon may
have an impact on your blood sugar." |

Cinnamon is the main ingredient of the "Chinese 5 spice" seasoning
found in many grocery stores. Other herbs included are fennel,

Another product (from India) is Madras curry powder a mixture of the
following spices typically in order of percentages - coriander seeds,
fennel seeds, black pepper, garlic, ginger, fenugreek, cinnamon, cloves,
anise, mustard, sodium. Try to locate an organic non irradiated

Synsepalum dulcificum
Complete purification & characterization of a taste-modifying protein,
miraculin, from miracle fruit.
[J Biol Chem. 1988] PMID: 3403544 +
3/30/2007 www.wsj.com Miraculin,
a glycoprotein from Synsepalum dulcificum provokes sweetness and blocks
sourness, when consumed immediately prior to eating. Additionally,
the taste-modifying protein, miraculin, has the unusual property of
modifying sour taste into sweet taste.
Purification and complete amino acid sequence of a new type of sweet
protein taste-modifying activity, curculin.
[J Biol Chem. 1990] A complete amino acid
sequence of a new type of sweet protein taste-modifying activity, curculin
was determined. Curculin consists of 114 residues. Curculin itself elicits
a sweet taste. After curculin, water elicits a sweet taste, and sour
substances induce a stronger sense of sweetness. No protein with both
sweet-tasting and taste-modifying activities has ever been found. There
are 5 sets of tripeptides common to miraculin (a taste-modifying
protein), 6 sets of tripeptides common to thaumatin (a sweet protein),
and 2 sets of tripeptides common to monellin (a sweet protein).
The primary structure and characterization of carbohydrate chains of the
extracellular glycoprotein proteinase inhibitor from latex of Carica
papaya.
[Eur J Biochem. 1996] A secretory
proteinase inhibitor was isolated from the latex of green fruits of
papaya (Carica papaya). The protein exhibited stoichiometric
inhibition of bovine trypsin and alpha-chymotrypsin by the same site or
overlapping binding sites. The complete covalent structure consisting of
184 amino acids and two disulfide bonds was determined by protein
analysis...The latex protein belongs to an extensively diverse plant
protein family that includes inhibitors of serine, cysteine and aspartic
proteases, a taste-modifying protein, wound responsive proteins, storage
proteins, amylase inhibitors and even an oxidoreductase. In this
superfamily, the latex proteinase inhibitor is most similar to the curious
protein, miraculin, which makes sour food taste sweet. 2
carbohydrate chains, each probably composed of (mannose)5, (xylose)1,
(fucose)0-2, and (N-acetylglucosamine)2 residues, were attached to asparagine 84 and 90...They may represent a new class of plant xylose-containing
carbohydrate chains with five mannose residues. |

DANGER |
Artificial sweetener Aspartamine
(NutraSweet, Spoonfulls, or Equal)
is DANGEROUS [and possibly sucralose/Splenda and Sweet-n-Low
(saccharin)] and is often found in diet sodas.
50% of aspartame is phenylalanine, an amino acid. Too much in the
brain causes serotonin to drop, leading to depression, craving for
carbohydrates, and brain tumors. 40% of aspartame is aspartic acid,
an amino acid, that when NOT bound to protein causes an increase in aspartate, which may contribute to epilepsy, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and
fetus damage. Same may apply to glutamate. 10% of aspartame is
methanol (wood alcohol) which converts to formaldehyde, which can damage
the retina, optic nerve, DNA replication and the fetus. Also see 11/03
