Beta carotene from the yellow/orange/red fruits/vegetables provide photo-protection.  Apricots have more than carrots!  2 pounds of carrots juiced daily will provide good protection if taken prior to sun exposure.  www.xps.org/fall98.pdf
Beta carotene (non-toxic pro-vitamin A) found in carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, broccoli, cantaloupe, apricots, pumpkin, mangoes, papaya, lettuce, tomatoes, peaches, brussels sprouts, cabbage, oranges, yams (show in order of vitamin A units) can help protect against radiation, atherosclerosis and inflammation per James E O'Brien in mini magazine The Miracle of Nature's Healing Foods published by Globe Communications Corp.

Zinc oxide often is the active ingredient of all-natural sunscreens.   aches@wsj.com  5/3/05WallStJournal
Zinc oxide may be produced with microfine particles to appear invisible rather than (the traditional) white (ointment which stains clothes).  FDA classifies microfine zinc oxide, octinoxate (octyl methoxycinnamate) and oxybenzone as Category I sunscreens good for X-ray technicians with protection against UV-B waves.  Zinc oxide may help release of insulin-like growth factor and promotes wound healing.  Topical octinoxate, oxybenzone and titanium dioxide may protect the DNA. Titanium dioxide may protect against both UV-A and UV-B radiation.  Topical application of herbs (green tea, milk thistle, grape seed, turmeric root, licorice root and rosemary) may prevent skin inflammation, DNA damage, aging and cancer. 6/05  www.lef.org

CONVENTIONAL
PREVENTION

a - DANGER The active ingredient of conventional sunscreens is often octyl-methoxycinnamate, which when absorbed into the skin, mimics estrogen and may trigger abnormal developments.
