Pastor Oral Roberts, who has a healing ministry, at age 86 has just memorized 8 scripture passages (below) which he prays at bedtime and during the night if he wakes up. I suspect our own memorizing and reciting at bedtime 365 days a year the following scripture may produce special blessings. Let us try to memorize at least one chapter a month. (Choose any translation of the Bible with which you are comfortable. We have selected the New International Version.) "These hours of sacrifice, or Hours of Prayer (particularly the 3rd and 9th hours) were prophetic in nature. Jesus our supreme sacrifice was crucified in the 3rd hour of the day (Mark 15:25). His witness of "darkness at noon day" occurred in the 6th hour (Mark 15:33-34; Matthew 27:45). The Moslems have added 2 extra hours to the biblical mandate but the Christian community has apparently deleted them altogether...

PSALM 1 = Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers. His delight is in the law of the Lord. On His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. Not so the wicked. They are like chaff that the wind blows away. The wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous, for the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

PSALM 23 = The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul. But the (evil/demonic) prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me 21 days. MARK 1:35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.

ROMANS 8 = There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. What the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened y the sinful nature, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. He condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature, but according to the Spirit.
Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires, but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit, have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace. The sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.
You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God live in you. If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. If Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. If the Spirit of Him Who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He Who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies   through His Spirit, Who lives in you.
Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation, but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. If you live according to the sinful nature, you will die, but if by the Spirit, you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. You did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of son-ship. By Him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and coheirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved, but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? If we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but, the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. He who searches our hearts know the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. Those He predestined, He also called. Those He called, He also justified. Those He justified, He also glorified.
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He did not spare His own son, but gave Him up for us all. Will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God Who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, Who died, (and) more than that, Who was raised to life, is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger or sword? As it is written, "For your sake we face death all day long. We are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us. I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither present nor future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

EPHESIANS 6:10-18 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against authorities, against powers of this dark world, (and) against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Sand firm the, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, and with the breastplate of righteousness in place, with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Pray in the Spirit (pray in tongues, per Oral Roberts) on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert. Always keep on praying for all the saints.

2nd TIMOTHY 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (doing the right things, God's way).

1st JOHN 5:16-17 TPNT 16If someone would see his brother committing a sin not to death, if he will ask, then He will give life to him, to those who do not sin to death. There is a sin to death; I am not saying that he should ask concerning that. 17Every unrighteousness is sin, but there is sin not to death. (footnote =Jesus identifies food as one example of a sin not unto death, Matthew 5:11, Mark 7:15).
(Spiritual insight = Catholics infer that a similar principle exists in their reference to venial and mortal sin...
Diseases and especially incurable diseases are considered by some ministries to be caused by demons who got a foothold in the individual's life due to commission of unconfessed sin by self or his/her ancestors.)

                                                               PRAYING IN TONGUES
Father Robert DeGrandis in The Ten Commandments of Prayer recommends that we pray in tongues to allow the Holy Spirit to minister to the root cause (such as deep emotional problems) of physical ailments. Any one who has been baptized in the Holy Spirit can pray for himself or for another this way, using tongues (another language; sometimes called the language of angels; a second known language, but unknown to the speaker). Father warns us regarding praying, in any capacity, including tongues, to be persistent and not to quit: Life, marriage, as well as the baptism in the Holy Spirit has a honeymoon period. The honeymoon always ends, at least for awhile. Then comes the school of hard knocks, such as Moses and his nation encountered in the desert. In the desert of life we experience growing pains. We finally get enlightenment. Then the emotional/maturity cycle begins again.

[The books of Maccabees are excluded from the Protestant Bibles because they are considered NOT to be inspired by the Holy Spirit. Many religious/spiritual practices are done out of tradition and belief in doctrines of demons.

Separate issues are the repenting of the sin of our deceased ancestors and repenting for sins of living children (See the book of Job.), to stop curses from landing on our heads (See the book of Deuteronomy) DELIVERANCE from CURSES .

Another issue is the praying for or being baptized for the dead, once noted in the New Testament.
1st Corinthians 15:29 NIV If there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them?

Both Jesus and His disciples continued to pray as Jews, even though they had become Messianic Jews (NOT Christians)! Remember, a lot of the Old Testament dictates are MANDITORY and NOT elective. Speaking holy scripture out loud was (and still is) good for the ears, for the heart, and for the mind. Becoming acquainted with Jewish liturgy, times, seasons, and feasts plus participating in them will help us and our family become intimate with the Trinity.
(Speaking scripture in one's native tongue is awesome. Speaking in ancient Hebrew affects DNA. Speaking is tongues affects the heavens.
If 1% of our spoken prayer is personal and 99% spoken prayer is related scripture, then we are tuned into God's wave length.
For example we can pray, "Oh Lord, in Jesus name, I disallow calamity, because I agree with king David who says in Psalm 23, 'I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me...Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life." Or, having prayed Psalm 23, we can then respond with our own words, "Oh G-d, thank You for removing fear and trembling from my heart; thank You for being my savior and protector.")
A wonderful admonishment is that of training up our children, from infancy. Testimony is shared where from the age of 19 months a child began quoting the Bible, a chapter at a time. In fact, we can begin at conception to train up our child to memorize scripture!

Chapter 1 Learn to Pray Catholic saint Teresa at age 39 "had a vision of the wounded Christ, which propelled her forward in her prayer life" and launched her into a prayer life full of "ecstatic" experiences. (At least one famous Catholic nun is reputed to have had orgasms when in ecstasy. In Christ's time Judaism consisted of 4 major branches: Sadducees, Pharisees, Zealots, Essenes. "'Essene' means 'healer' in Aramaic, the language of Jesus...The Egyptian equivalent of The Essenes was a group called the Therapeutae (or therapeutic in English), which also means 'the healer' in Greek." Historian Josephus indicates that the Essenes worshiped 24hrs all 7days with 1/3 of the community praising during the night shift, following the example of King Solomon.
Authors admonish us, "When you don't know how to do something, find someone who does it better than you, and ask them to teach you how to do it."
Chapter 3 Pray Every Day "Daily prayer in Daniel's life...coincided with the (Jewish) daily sacrifice."
"With all probability...no day in the life of Jesus passed without the 3 times of (Jewish) prayer: the morning prayer at sunrise, the afternoon prayer at the time when the afternoon sacrifice was offered in the Temple, the evening prayer at night before going to sleep." For some, the "hours of prayer' might have been 3rd hour or 9AM, 6th hr or noon, and 9th hr or 3PM for the Roman Empire which divided the day into thirds. "Tertullian and Cyprian record 5 set times of prayer a day" - morning (sunrise), 3rd hr (of daylight), 6th hr (of daylight) (noon), 9th hr, and evening (sunset) + night (bedtime) prayers. Islam advocates the 5x a day prayer.
Chapter 4 Pray the Scripture Out Loud to God "If you want to 'see' God (materialize), pray Revelation 4 out loud to God 100 times...Pray Revelation 4 five times through a day for 20 days...Having access in our minds to the words and images of the heavenly throne room is crucial to God becoming personal." Their 4 year old daughter can testify to the success of this visualization and subsequent intimacy with God.
Chapter 5 Pray the Bible "The Bible is actually a whole book of spiritual words. The Bible will teach you the language (heart) of God, so that you can effectively communicate to Him." 1st Corinthians 2:13 We speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit. (This also applies to speaking in tongues.) Old Testament Jewish boys were required to learn the 1st 5 books of the Bible before age 13, before their bar mitzvah. This was done in Hebrew chant, a cappella spiritual music. Renown Catholic priests Benedict and Columban had their pupils recite 150-330 psalms weekly. Toddlers are especially receptive to melodic learning.
"The 'theophanies' are the 'visions of God' (Ezekiel 1:1) recorded in scripture...Begin praying the Bible by praying the theophanies...praying TO God (Who you can begin to visualize/perceive. Next)...By praying the Psalms, you will have language (vocabulary) to express the feeling of your heart to God."
Chapter 6 Praying Out Loud "The Talmud describes how certain sages cited the words, 'He lets the winds blow,' and instantly the winds began to blow, and then they recited, 'He lets the rains fall,' the rains began to fall."
Claim "God's promises using Scripture...Using Scriptures in prayer is one certain way of praying according to the will of God," as long as we personally are in "spiritual alignment with God'. "Praying the Bible...was my pathway to intimacy with God...Heaven prays out loud...repeatedly throughout the book of Revelation...I have begun to sing my prayers, which is still out loud communication with God."

Strong's definition of the Hebrew word hagah means 'to imagine, meditate, mourn, mutter, roar, speak, study, talk, utter" and according to Patrick Miller "the verb hagah often refers to a speaking act...accompanied by moaning and groaning." In other words: Babies gurgle down bottles of milk. We slurp yummy ice creams and frappes. We grind and pop that bubble gum. Many of us talk to ourselves when studying or working. Mouthing out our lifestyles is productive, at least to us. After all God made everything with His mouth and NOT His hands; we are His hands today, as well as His mouthpiece.

Munroe reminds us that whatever is manifested on earth is first gained or first manifested in God's residence, the 3rd heaven. He contends that Christ was first crucified in heaven. Definitely, the idea or conception, approval, and blueprint for Christ to come to earth to redeem man, was hatched in heaven by God. When Christ came to earth on behalf of His Dad, God, he was named Jesus by his family on orders of an angel. Munroe contends that Christ is the spirit part and Jesus is the body part. In Genesis 1:26 the Trinity delegated man to have dominion over all the earth. Whatever God speaks becomes spiritual law. God is not a liar. He has delegated man to accomplish His will on earth. God is waiting for us to accomplish His will on earth, while we are waiting for Him to accomplish our will on earth. No wonder little gets accomplished! All sick people are healed in heaven, for Christ took all our diseases and sins to the cross with Himself and died in our place 2000 years ago. Not only did He take our punishment in our place, but he also killed all our dis-ease-s. The problem is getting our healing from the 3rd heaven to the earth. This is NOT God's problem. It is our problem, because He has authorized us to act in His stead. Provision for our healing took place 2000 years ago. Our healing is accomplished. We are already healed. The Holy Spirit is the trustee of our healing in heaven. We need to agree with God and take our inheritance. We have the wrong mind set. Thank You that I am well. Thank You that I am whole. I do not see it, because it is in the 3rd heaven. However, I claim my healing. I receive my healing. I repent of all the sins of my forefathers. I repent of all my own sins. I confess that You Jesus Christ are my savior from both sin and disease. Thank you. I apologize for asking when I should have been praising. Sorry. I will stand on Your word and not on what I see or feel. I will confess Your word, which is beautiful to my ears and my heart. What if the scientific evidence is contrary to the word of God? Jesus and Lazarus were both dead, but both rose from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. Chapter 15 Soulish Prayers is an eye opener. It condemns our condemning! Why? Because it is the role of Satan and his cohorts. If we join the chorus, we are on the enemy's side! Prince gives us an apt story of a missionary to India called Praying Hyde. God would not allow him to speak out loud in his prayers to Him that a certain Indian evangelist was cold, lacking fire or fruit. Instead he was inspired to praise all the attributes of this individual. Behold. Within months, the evangelist was transformed and effective. Prince warns us to always begin intercession with thanksgiving/ praise to God for the individual. He warns us never to point a finger, which is Satan's tactic. Every time we break this spiritual law, we cause harm to the unsuspecting individuals. We can actually SEND demonic arrows/spirits of heaviness, guilt, condemnation, when we speak or think negative, critical, judgmental prayers. God, not I, is to be judge. Always. Prayers to God attempting to control or accuse others may backfire and CAUSE broken relationships with man AND God.

Chapter 18 Seven Steps to Release Gives us a prayer to say out loud to erase curses. The difference is the difference between success and failure...God, by grace, has already provided everything we will ever need. Our faith doesn’t move God...Faith simply appropriates what God has already provided by grace...
It takes a revelation from the Holy Spirit to make these truths become alive on the inside of you. Many people just can’t grasp them because they are trapped in their 5 senses. If they can’t see it, taste it,
smell it, touch it, or hear it, they don’t think it exists. Therefore, when someone says to them they have already been healed, they check their physical bodies with their five senses, and if it doesn’t look or feel healed, they say they aren’t...If they don’t see an instant manifestation of their healing, they just automatically suppose that God hasn’t healed them. They seldom take into account that maybe it’s their reception (perception) that’s the problem...God moves in the spiritual realm. Whether or not we see what He has done in the spiritual realm manifest in the physical realm is not dependent on Him giving, but rather on us receiving...We have to know that God has already done His part and that any delay in our manifestation is not His fault...
Satan’s only power is deception. He doesn’t have any physical power or authority, except what we give to him when we yield to his lies....
The Bible says, 'And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).' Knowing
the truth is what sets people free, not (necessarily) binding the devil in prayer. (In other words, the prison door is unlocked! Just push open the door. Do not be like the brainwashed elephant tied to a string.)

"He found it very interesting, and so do I, not surprising at all either, that during a prayer for someone who is being tempted by demons, a horde of flies came out of nowhere and descended upon this couple. Gazowsky says that he found the "weakness" or vunerability, relates to the life span of flies. Pretty much any species reproductive cycles range from one day to 40 days. That is why in order to exterminate a infestation of flies from a crop, you have to spray pesticides for 40 consecutive days in order to utterly destroy them. If you stop short of 40 days, you only destroy the existing generation, but the next generation will live on. This is a good point when it comes to generational curse and breaking them also. You may be free of a sin, say addiction, that has been a history in your family, and even though you are free, you see it happening in your children. This leads one to think that a 40 day fast is necessary to break generational curses off your family once and for all.
Throughout the Bible, 40 days represents cleansing and purifying. The flood in Noahs time cleansed the earth of wickedness for 40 days and nights.
Moses life could be divided up into three different seasons of 40. He spent 40 years in Egypt. He spent 40 years in the desert and 40 years bringing and delivering the Israelites to the Promised Land. He also fasted for 40 days two different times, once recieving the Ten Commandments and once interceding for the sin of the Israelites and God spared them.
When Jonah went to Ninevah, he gave the inhabitants 40 days to repent of expect judgement, and the king of Ninevah called a fast for the entire land, of which they were awarded with mercy instead of judgement.
Elijah fasted for 40 days in the desert, and during that time he spoke with God and recieved new direction, remember the valley of the dry bones, and prophesizing, this is when it occurred. The word Eljah recieved during that 40 day fast also affected the next generation.
There is a prophetic release that occurs in and individual who fasts continually for 40 days. This does not necessarily have to be from food either, it could be from tv, or the computer, or anything unproductive to the Kingdom of God. Wonder what kind of cleansing would occur and glory would be released if we fasted an additional hour of every day for 40 days to spend in prayer with the Lord (meaning dedicating without fail one hour daily for 40 days to prayer).
Flies represent demons in the Word, as do other animals. If you could see into the spirit world, many demons resemble animals. Do some of you remember me telling you about when I blessed my house when my husband went out, the last time when he was in captivity to 7 demons, and within 24 hours these silvery very shiny winged fly looking creatures who could only hop came up out of the bathroom floor, through the carpeting, and literally covered the dining room floor as they marched, hopped that is, towards the side porch door. There were millions of them, and within a hour there was not a single one to be seen, they went under the door of the side porch and on out. I called my pastor hysterically and he advised me I was such a skeptic about demon possession that God showed me the manifestation of the demons that were still in my home leaving when the house was blessed. These demon spirits attach themselves to our lives, they carry off our spouses in captivity, into adultery, or addictions. They are generational curses, mental illnesses, bondages, strongholds of the mind, lust, perversion, and addictions of every kind, they are divorce! The problem with most churches is that they just swat at flies for a few days when they are right in their faces, then they go away for awhile, but they keep coming back! Its time to clean house! It is time for a scriptural season of cleansing. With cleansing, devils will start dropping like flies! Whoo Hoo! Not only in your life, in your generation and in the future generations of demons that are passed down to your children. Solomon wrote, "Dead flies putrefy the perfumers ointment, and cause it to give off a foul odor." Eccl. 10:1. Flies would get into the special anointing oil, they'd get stuck in it, die, and spoil the fragrance. Flies hinder the anointing in our lives. Worship gets polluted by flies of fleshly desires, and draws one away from God and into captivity. This is their job folks! It is time to get rid of the flies with 40 days of fasting! It may be time for you to cast out demons from your spouses with 40 days of fasting and praying!"
