Pastor Oral Roberts, who has a healing ministry, at age 86 has just memorized 8 scripture passages (below) which he prays at bedtime and during the night if he wakes up.  I suspect our own memorizing and reciting at bedtime 365 days a year the following scripture may produce special blessings.  Let us try to memorize at least one chapter a month.  (Choose any translation of the Bible with which you are comfortable.  We have selected the New International Version.)  In addition, if these verses are not helpful to you at this time in your life, go for the gold, and find plus memorize the scripture that is relevant now.  Later on memorize and quote new scripture that does apply.  Do this in each season of your life, so that the enemy will have NO foothold in your life, but the Holy Spirit will.  Blessings.

PSALM 1 = Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.  His delight is in the law of the Lord.  On His law he meditates day and night.  He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither.  Whatever he does prospers.  Not so the wicked.  They are like chaff that the wind blows away.  The wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous, for the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

PSALM 40 = I waited patiently for the Lord. PSALM 103 = Praise the Lord, O my soul.  All my inmost being, praise His holy name.  Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits. MARK 1:35    Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.

ROMANS 8 = There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.  What the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened y the sinful nature, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.  He condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature, but according to the Spirit.
Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires, but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit, have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.  The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.  The sinful mind is hostile to God.  It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.  Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. 
You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God live in you.  If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.  If Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.  If the Spirit of Him Who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He Who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies   through His Spirit, Who lives in you.
Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation, but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it.  If you live according to the sinful nature, you will die, but if by the Spirit, you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.  You did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of son-ship.  By Him we cry, "Abba, Father."  The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.  Now if we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and coheirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory. 
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.  The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.  For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
We know that the whole creation has been  groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.  Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.  For in this hope we were saved,  but hope that is seen is no hope at all.  Who hopes for what he already has?  If we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.  
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We do not know what we ought to pray for, but, the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.  He who searches our hearts know the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will. 
We  know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.  Those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.  Those He predestined, He also called.  Those He called, He also justified.  Those He justified, He also glorified.
What, then, shall we say in response to this?  If God is for us, who can be against us?  He did not spare His own son, but gave Him up for us all.  Will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?  Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen?  It is God Who justifies.  Who is he that condemns?  Christ Jesus, Who died, (and) more than that, Who was raised to life, is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall  trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger or sword?  As it is written, "For your sake we face death all day long.  We are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."  No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us.  I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither present nor future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.                                         

2nd TIMOTHY 3:16    All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (doing the right things, God's way).   

1st JOHN 5:16-17 TPNT    16If someone would see his brother committing a sin not to death, if he will ask, then He will give life to him, to those who do not sin to death.  There is a sin to death; I am not saying that he should ask concerning that.  17Every unrighteousness is sin, but there is sin not to death. (footnote =Jesus identifies food as one example of a sin not unto death, Matthew 5:11, Mark 7:15).
(Spiritual insight = Catholics infer that a similar principle exists in their reference to venial and mortal sin... 
Diseases and especially incurable diseases are considered by some ministries to be caused by demons who got a foothold in the individual's life due to commission of unconfessed sin by self or his/her ancestors.)

                                           PRAYING IN TONGUES
Father Robert DeGrandis in The Ten Commandments of Prayer recommends that we pray in tongues to allow the Holy Spirit to minister to the root cause (such as deep emotional problems) of physical ailments. Any one who has been baptized in the Holy Spirit can pray for himself or for another this way, using tongues (another language; sometimes called the language of angels; a second known language, but unknown to the speaker).  Father warns us regarding praying, in any capacity, including tongues, to be persistent and not to quit:  Life, marriage, as well as the baptism in the Holy Spirit has a honeymoon period.  The honeymoon always ends, at least for awhile.  Then comes the school of hard knocks, such as Moses and his nation encountered in the desert.  In the desert of life we experience growing pains.  We finally get enlightenment.  Then the emotional/maturity cycle begins again.

2nd Maccabees 12:40-46 NAB Expiation for the Dead 
40Under the tunic of each of the dead they found amulets sacred to the idols of Jamnia, which the (Torah/Old Testament/Hebrew) law forbids the Jews to wear.  So it was clear to all that this was why these men had been slain.  41They all therefore praised the ways of the Lord, the just judge who brings to light the things that are hidden.  42Turning to supplication, they prayed that the sinful deed might be fully blotted out.  The noble Judas warned the soldiers to keep themselves free from sin, for they had seen with their own eyes what had happened because of the sin of those who had fallen.  43He then took up a collection among all his soldiers, amounting to 2,000 silver drachmas, which he sent to Jerusalem to provide for an expiatory sacrifice.  In doing this he acted in a very excellent and noble way, inasmuch as he had the resurrection of the dead in view;  44for if he were not expecting the fallen to rise again, it would have been useless and foolish to pray for them in death. 45But if he did this with a view to the splendid reward that awaits those who had gone to rest in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought.  46Thus he made atonement for the dead that they might be freed from this sin. (After Christ came, He made all other atonements invalid/sinful/of no consequence, for He paid the full price plus sales tax for any sin confessed, repented of during one's own life time.)
[The books of Maccabees are excluded from the Protestant Bibles because they are considered NOT to be inspired by the Holy Spirit. Many religious/spiritual practices are done out of tradition and belief in doctrines of demons.
 
Separate issues are the repenting of the sin of our deceased ancestors and repenting for sins of living children (See the book of Job.), to stop curses from landing on our heads (See the book of Deuteronomy) DELIVERANCE from CURSES . 

Another issue is the praying for or being baptized for the dead, once noted in the New Testament.
1st Corinthians 15:29 NIV     If there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead?  If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them? 
[Commentary from Father John H Hampsch's Healing Your Family Tree = "Original sin can be erased through baptism...Personal sin, on the other hand, can be erased through (one's own personal) repentance."]

 A final issue is the praying TO the dead.  This is forbidden.].

Chapter 17 Lord, Teach Us to Pray - The Prayer of the Disciples - Luke 11:1  reminds us to use the template/formula prayer Jesus taught His disciples (excepting in an emergency, when we can yell  1-2 words as, "Jesus, help.") Thus, we begin with adoration of Father, God.  Proceed, agreeing with God that His (not our) will be done (as Jesus did in the Gethsemane garden).  Next we ask for specific (not general) needs to be met. 4th we repent for our (plus any family/national) sins. 5th we forgive all trespasses (not trespassers) against us.  Forgiveness 6th we ask God to deliver us from temptation/evil (the evil one). 7th, it is preferable to end/ begin all prayers "in the name of Jesus" (Who is The Provider/The Answer Man/our solution.)  HEALING NAME OF JESUS  
Chapter 20 The Prayer of the Tax Collector quotes the Talmud,
"If someone is praying outside the Land of Israel, he should direct his heart in the direction of Israel.   If the person is praying in Israel, he should direct his heart toward Jerusalem.  Those in Jerusalem should direct their hearts to the Temple."

MacMillan's The Authority of the Believer and on Jesus' 8 visits to him (Hagin).  The key points of the book can be found under the same title on CD.  Hagin admonishes us to continually pray aloud for ourselves and then later for others Ephesians 1:16-20 + Ephesians 3:14-19.  Seminary degrees and theological understanding are insufficient/incomplete without the Holy Spirit teaching our human spirit and His intervention in the lives of the non or baby Christians wearing demonic eyeglass. 
Hagin reminds us that we have spiritual authority over our own households and those residing or visiting on our property. 2nd we do NOT have authority over another's will, but rather over the evil spirits affecting/oppressing another individual in our household, occupying our space, or in our presence.  Once that person leaves our household/family or home/congregation/job then that evil spirit is free to attempt to get the individual to consent to its interference.  When we pray, we speak directly TO the evil spirit and command it to decease and desist, in the name of Jesus.  There is no time or distance in the spirit, so the evil spirit HAS to immediately obey.  We always speak and rely on the Word of God and NEVER on feelings/ sight/results. We do NOT speak to the individual NOR to God, in this instance, for this purpose.

Munroe reminds us that whatever is manifested on earth is first gained or first manifested in God's residence, the 3rd heaven.  He contends that Christ was first crucified in heaven.  Definitely, the idea or conception, approval, and blueprint  for Christ to come to earth to redeem man, was hatched in heaven by God.  When Christ came to earth on behalf of His Dad, God, he was named Jesus by his family on orders of an angel.  Munroe contends that Christ is the spirit part and Jesus is the body part.  God accomplished in Jesus Christ what He needed to do to redeem man's soul (mind), body, and spirit for all past, present, and future generations. 
In Genesis 1:26 the Trinity delegated man to have dominion over all the earth.  Whatever God speaks becomes spiritual law.  God is not a liar.  He has delegated man to accomplish His will on earth.  God is waiting for us to accomplish His will on earth, while we are waiting for Him to accomplish our will on earth.  No wonder little gets accomplished!  All sick people are healed in heaven, for Christ took all our diseases and sins to the cross with Himself and died in our place 2000 years ago.  Not only did He take our punishment in our place, but he also killed all our dis-ease-s.  The problem is getting our healing from the 3rd heaven to the earth.  This is NOT God's problem.  It is our problem, because He has authorized us to act in His stead.  Provision for our healing took place 2000 years ago.  Our healing is accomplished.  We are already healed.  The Holy Spirit is the trustee of our healing in heaven.  We need to agree with God and take our inheritance.  We have the wrong mind set.  Thank You that I am well.  Thank You that I am whole.  I do not see it, because it is in the 3rd heaven. However, I claim my healing.  I receive my healing.  I repent of all the sins of my forefathers.  I repent of all my own sins.  I confess that You Jesus Christ are my savior from both sin and disease. Thank you.  I apologize for asking when I should have been praising.  Sorry.  I will stand on Your word and not on what I see or feel.  I will confess Your word, which is beautiful to my ears and my heart.  What if the scientific evidence is contrary to the word of God?  Jesus and Lazarus were both dead, but both rose from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Job's body was definitely molested by disease, but that did pass, once God had proved to Satan "that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and upright man, one that fears God and eschews evil". Job 1:8 KJV

Chapter 15 Soulish Prayers is an eye opener.  It condemns our condemning!  Why?  Because it is the role of Satan and his cohorts.  If we join the chorus, we are on the enemy's side!  Prince gives us an apt story of a missionary to India called Praying Hyde.  God would not allow him to speak out loud in his prayers to Him that a certain Indian evangelist was cold, lacking fire or fruit.  Instead he was inspired to praise all the attributes of this individual.  Behold.  Within months, the evangelist was transformed and effective.  Prince warns us to always begin intercession with thanksgiving/ praise to God for the individual.  He warns us never to point a finger, which is Satan's tactic.  Every time we break this spiritual law, we cause harm to the unsuspecting individuals.  We can actually SEND demonic arrows/spirits of heaviness, guilt, condemnation, when we speak or think negative, critical, judgmental prayers.  God, not I, is to be judge.  Always.  Prayers to God attempting to control or accuse others may backfire and CAUSE broken relationships with man AND God. 
Chapter 14 Soulish Talk shares how gossip causes/sends actual physical harm/pain, like that of witchcraft.  This is a sin!
Chapter 18 Seven Steps to Release Gives us a prayer to say out loud to erase curses.  It encompasses a decision for Jesus, confession of sins, forgiveness of all offenders, renouncing of anything occultic or satanic with the promise to destroy all related objects, and receiving release of God's blessings.
Chapter 19 The Weapons of Warfare reminds us that group prayer is a symphony, and more effective than solo prayer, for scripture (God) says that, "Where 2 or 3 are, there am I."
