1st 5 books of Old Testament are called the Tanakh or torah or Pentateuch (penta means 5)

"Hebrew Bible is called the Tanakh.
It is the Old Covenant Scriptues or 'Old Testament' & is made up of the 3 parts:

God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants & trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds."(day 3)...
God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night & let them serve as signs to mark seasons & days & years, & let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth."(day 4)...

Genesis 20:17 - So Abraham prayed unto God: & God healed Abimelech, his wife, & his maidservants; (so that)
they conceived children.
Genesis 32:26 - "I will not let You (God) go unless You bless me."
Genesis 50:20 - You (enemy) conspired against me, but God meant it for good (allowed & reversed the harm).

Exodus 6:6 KJV - "I am the Lord & will bring you out from under the burdens (yolk: NIV)...
I will redeem you with a stretched out arm."
Exodus 6:7 KJV - "I am the Lord your God, which (Who) brings you out from under the burdens."
Exodus 12:7 - They shall take the (lamb's) blood strike it on 2 side posts & on the upper door post of the houses, where they shall eat it (the lamb). (This is an illustration of eating the body of Christ.)
Exodus 12:13 - The blood shall be to you a token upon the houses where you are.
When I see the blood, I will pass over you & the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you.
Exodus 12:23 - He (God) will see the (lamb's) blood (representing Jesus' blood covering our confessed & forgiven sins) on the top & side of the doorframe & will pass over that doorway & He will NOT permit the destroyer to enter your houses & strike you down.
Exodus 14:14 - The Lord shall fight for you; you need only to be still.
Exodus 14:15 Alexander Harkavy - 15The Lord said unto Moses, "Wherefore criest thou unto Me?
(You) Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward.
16But lift thou up thy rod & stretch out thine hand over the sea & divide it;
& the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea."
Exodus 15:23-25 KJVer - They could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they (the waters) were bitter.
Therefore the name of it was called Marah (bitter).
The people murmured against Moses saying, "What shall we drink?"
He cried to the Lord, & the Lord showed him a tree.
The water was made sweet, when he (Moses) cast (the tree) into it.
Exodus 15:25-26 - 25.He (God) made a statute & an ordinance. There (in Marah) He proved (regulated/tested) them & 26.said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God & do what is right in His eyes, if you pay attention to His commands, (& if you) keep all His decrees, (then) I will NOT bring (allow/permit/put) on you any of the diseases I brought (allowed) on the Egyptians (gentiles/those who reject Me & My Words),
for I am (Jehovah-Rapha) the Lord, Who heals you."
(#1 Spiritual Principle: Often we allow disease to come upon us when we violate God's commandments.)

Exodus 17:11-13 - As long as Moses help up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands the Amalekites were winning. When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone & put it under him & he sat on it. Aaron & Hur held his hand up - 1 on 1 side, 1 on the other, so that his hands remained steady till sunset.
So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. (Spiritual insight:
Neither physically nor spiritually can we win life's battles alone.)
Exodus 20:1 - & God spoke all these words, saying
Exodus 20:5 - I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the 3rd & 4th generation of those who hate me,
Exodus 20:6 - but showing love to a 1,000 generations of those who love Me & keep My commandments.
(Spiritual insight: disease/curse is generational due to sin.) (See also Deuteronomy 5:9)
Exodus 23:20 - "Behold, I send an Angel before you, to keep you in the way, & to bring you into the place which I have prepared."
Exodus 23:25-26 - "You shall serve the Lord your God. He shall bless your bread & your water.
I will take sickness away from the midst of you. There will be no miscarriages nor barrenness throughout your land. You will live out the full quota of the days of your life."
Exodus 34:5-8 - 5The Lord came down in the cloud & stood there with him (Moses) & proclaimed His name, the Lord. 6He passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate & gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love & faithfulness, 7maintaining love to 1,000's & forgiving wickedness, rebellion & sin. Yet He does not leave the guilty unpunished; He punishes the children & their children for the sin of the fathers to the 3rd & 4th generation." 8Moses bowed to the ground at once & worshiped. (Spiritual insight: Generational punishment/consequences can be curses or diseases allowed by God & put on us by Satan.)

Leviticus 26:14-17 - If you will not listen to Me or obey Me, but reject My laws, this is what I will do to you; I will punish you with sudden terrors & panic...You will even run when no one is chasing you!
Leviticus 26:40 - They will confess (apologize for) their sins & the sins of their fathers.

Numbers 11:23 NIV - The Lord answered Moses, "Is the Lord's arm (hand KJV) too short?
You will now see whether or not what I say will come true for you."
Numbers 12:1 - Miriam & Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married...& they said, "Hath the Lord indeed spoken only by Moses? Hath He not spoken also by us?" The Lord heard it
Numbers 12:10 - The cloud departed from off the tabernacle; behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow.
Numbers 12:14,15 - The Lord said to Moses, "...Should she not be ashamed 7 days? Let her be shut out from the camp 7 days, & after that let her be received in again."
(Spiritual insight: jealousy, gossip, complaining and murmuring may be a root cause of leprosy?)
Numbers 14:33 - Your children will be shepherds here for 40 years, 1 year for each of the 40 days you (sinned).
(Spiritual insight: We can stop a 40 year curse & we can begin a 40 year blessing.)
Numbers 15:37-40 NIV - 37The Lord said to Moses,
38"Speak to the Israelites & say to them, 'Throughout the generations to come you are to make tassels (fringes/tsitsit) on the (4) corners (boarders/hem) of your garments (currently represented by a prayer shawl/tallit/mantle in which one wraps oneself in God's Word & blessings as one prays), with a blue cord on each tassel.
39You will have these tassels to look at & so you will remember all the commands of the Lord, that you may obey them & not prostitute yourselves by going after the lusts of your own hearts & eyes.
40Then you will remember to obey all My commands & will be consecrated to your God.'"
[Matthew 23:5 NIV - They make their phylacteries (boxes containing scripture verses, worn on forehead & arm) wide & the tassels on their garments long.]
Numbers 21:7-9 - The people came to Moses & said, "We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord & against you. Pray to the Lord, that He take away the serpents from us." Moses prayed for the people.
The lord said to Moses, "Make a firery serpent & set it upon a pole. It shall come to pass, that everyone who is bitten, when he looks upon it, shall live. Moses made a serpent of brass & put it on a pole.
It came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the brass serpent, he lived.(Spiritual insight:
The brass serpent is an illustration of the Messiah Who will forgive all sin & heal/remove all diseases.)

Deuteronomy 5:9 I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the 3rd & 4th generation of them that hate Me. (See also Exodus 20:5)
Deuteronomy 7:12 - If you listen to these ordinances & keep them carefully, then the LORD your God will keep His covenant & the loving devotion that He swore to your fathers.
Deuteronomy 7:13 - He will love, bless & multiply you. He will bless the fruit of your womb & produce of your land: your grain, new wine, & oil, the young of your herds & lambs of your flocks, in the land that He swore to your fathers to give you
Deuteronomy 7:14 - You will be blessed above all peoples.
Among you there will be NO barren man, woman or livestock.

Deuteronomy 8:4 - Your clothes did not wear out, nor did your feet swell, these 40 years.
Deuteronomy 23:5 - The Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you.
Deuteronomy 28:18 - The fruit of your womb (children or offspring) will be cursed.
Deuteronomy 28:20 - The Lord will send on you curses, confusion and rebuke in everything you put your hand to, until you are destroyed & come to sudden ruin because of the evil you (or your family) have done in forsaking Him.
Deuteronomy 28:22 - He will send tuberculosis, fever, infections, plague.
Deuteronomy 28:27-28 - He will send upon you Egyptian boils, tumors, scurvy & itch, for none of which will there be a remedy. He will send madness, blindness, fear, & panic upon you.
Deuteronomy 28:58 (KJV) - If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written this book, that thou may fear this glorious & fearful name, the Lord thy God; then the Lord will make thy plagues wonderful, & the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, & of long continuance & sore sicknesses. Moreover He will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt. (This scripture shows that diseases can be inherited due to family sin.) (Personal & family sin needs to be confessed to God, so God will forgive & eradicate the family diseases.)

Deuteronomy+29:5 - ⁵The Lord says, “During the 40 years that I led you through the wilderness, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet. ⁶You ate no bread & drank no wine or other fermented drink. I did this so that you might know that I am the Lord your God.".
Deuteronomy 30:19 - I (God) have set before you life & death, blessings & curses.
Now choose life, so that you & your children may live & that you may love the Lord your God.
(Spiritual insight: Our choices; our sins affect our children.)
Deuteronomy 32:39 - Don't you see that I alone am God? I kill & make live. I wound & heal.
Deuteronomy 33:27 - The eternal God is our refuge. Underneath are His everlasting arms.
He shall thrust out the enemy from before you.
Deuteronomy 34:7 NKJV - Moses was 120 years old when he died.
His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished.

2 Samuel 12:13 - The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die, but because by doing this you have made the enemies of the Lord show utter contempt. The son born to you will die. (Father Hampsch in Healing Your Family Tree contends that the "consequences" of sin can be transferred to the next generations, unless we apologize to God for our sins & the sins of our ancestors, + discontinue any existing sin.)

I Kings 11:1-2 - King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh's daughter...The Lord had told the Israelites , "You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods."
1Kings 11:9-11 - The Lord became angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel, Who had appeared to him twice. Although He had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the Lord's command, so the Lord said to Solomon, "Since this is your attitude and you have not kept My covenant and My degrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you & give it to 1 of your subordinates. Nevertheless, for the sake of David your father, I will not do it during your lifetime. I will tear it out of the hand of your son."
[Spiritual insight: Consequences of (unforgiven) sins of fathers are inherited/passed on to the next generations.]
I Kings 13:4-6 KJV - When king Jeroboam heard the saying of (Elijah) the man of God (who had cried (prophesied) against the altar in Bethel), he put forth his hand (away) from the altar, saying, "Lay hold of him."
His hand dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him. The altar also was rent. The ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the Lord. The king answered & said to the man of God, "Entreat now the face of the Lord your God & pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me again." The man of God besought the Lord. The king's hand was restored to him again. It became as it was before.
I Kings 14:7-11 - Thus says the Lord God of Israel, "I exalted you (Jeroboam) from among the people and made you prince over My people Israel and took the kingdom away from the house of David and gave it to you; yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept My commandments & followed Me with all his heart to do that which was right in My eyes. You have made for yourself other gods, idols made of metal; you have provoked Me to anger & thrust Me behind your back. Because of this, I am going to bring disaster on the house of Jeroboam...
Dogs will eat those belonging to Jeroboam who die in the city, & the birds of the air will feed on those who die in the country. The Lord has spoken."
I Kings 14:12 - As for you (wife of Jeroboam), go back home. When you set foot in your city, the boy (Ahijah) will die...He is the only one belonging to Jeroboam who will be buried, because he is the only one in the house of Jeroboam in whom the Lord, the God of Israel, has found anything good.
The Lord will raise up for Himself a king over Israel who will cut off the family of Jeroboam. This is the day.
(Spiritual insight: This story shows the consequences of generational sins & curses.
Now is the acceptable time to come before the Lord to confess our sins & the sins of our ancestors.)

2 Kings 1:2-4 - Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria & was sick. He sent messengers & said, "Go enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease. But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite, "Go up & meet the messengers of the king of Samaria & ask them, 'Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going off to consult Baal-Zebub the god of Ekron?' Therefore this is what the Lord says, 'You will not leave the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die.'" So Elijah went. (Spiritual insight: The Lord God is a jealous god. We may bring a curse upon ourselves when we do not 1st seek His help.)
2 Kings 5:14 - So Naaman went down to the Jordan River & dipped himself 7 times, as the prophet (Elisha) had told him to, his flesh became as healthy as a little child's, & he was healed. (It took 7 attempts before the healing was manifested.)
2 Kings 20:4-11 - 4Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him.
5Go back & tell Hezekiah, the leader of My people, "This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: 'I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the 3rd day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord.
6I will add 15 years to your life.'" (It took 3 days from the promise of healing to the manifestation of healing)...
7Then Isaiah said, "Prepare a poultice of figs." The did so and applied it to the boil & he recovered.
8Hezekia had asked Isaiah, "What will be the sign that the Lord will heal me and that I will go up to the temple of the Lord on the 3rd day from now?"
9Isaiah answered, "This is the Lord's sign to you that the Lord will do what He has promised.
Shall the shadow go forward 10 steps or shall it go back 10 steps:"
10"It is a simple matter for the shadow to go forward 10 steps," said Hezekiah. "Rather, have it go back 10 steps."
11Then the prophet Isaiah called upon the Lord & the Lord made the shadow go back the 10 steps it had gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.

I Chronicles 10:4 - Saul took his sword & fell on it. (Suicide)
1 Chronicles 10:13 - Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord; he did not keep the word of the Lord & even consulted a medium for guidance, and did not inquire of the Lord. (Spiritual insight: Saul did not repent.)

2 Chronicles 12:7 - When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, this word of the Lord came to Shemaiah: "Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them, but will soon give them deliverance."
2nd Chronicles 16:12-13 NIV - In the 39th year of his reign Asa was afflicted with a disease in his feet. Though his disease was severe, even in his illness he did not seek help from the Lord, but only from the physicians. Then in the 41st year of his reign Asa died & rested with his fathers.
2 Chronicles 21:10,12,14,15 - Because Jehoram had forsaken the Lord, the God of his fathers...Jehoram received a letter from Elijah the prophet, which said, "This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says, '...now the Lord is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives & everything that is yours, with a heavy blow. Your yourself will be very ill with a lingering disease of the bowels, until the disease causes your bowels to come out.'" (Scriptural insight: God allowed Jehoram's enemies, the Philistines & Arabs, to invade & conquer.) (God allowed Satin to attack his body unto death. Note however that God gave Jehoram 2 years, possibly to repent & get right with God.) (God shows a connection between sin & disease/tragedy in this biography.)

2 Chronicles 30:15 - The Lord harkened to Hezekiah, & healed the people.
2nd Chronicles 30:19-20 - Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, "The good Lord pardon everyone that prepares his heart to seek God, the Lord God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary & the Lord hearkened to Hezekiah & healed the people.

Nehemiah 8:10 - The joy of the Lord is our strength.
Nehemiah%209:21 - Yea, 40 years didst Thou sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing.
Their clothes waxed NOT old & their feet swelled NOT.
Nehemiah 9:2 - The seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers
& stood & confessed their sins, & the iniquities of their fathers (ancestors/lineage).
(Spiritual insight: Here is scriptural inference of inherited sin/disease.
Without confession there is no forgiveness of sin & no termination of inherited disease.)
Nehemiah 13:2 - Our God, however, turned the curse into a blessing.

Tobit 5:10 NAB (Catholic/historical) -
Raphael (the angel of God) said, "Take courage! God has healing in store for you; so take courage!"
Tobit 5:13 NAB (Catholic/historical) - Raphael (the angel of God) answered, "I am Azariah (Yahweh helps), son of Hananiah (Yahweh is merciful), the elder, 1 of your own kinsman."

Ester 9:7-8 - From the days of our forefathers until now, our (unconfessed and thus unforgiven) guilt has been great. Because of our sins, we & our kings and our priests have been subjected to the sword & captivity, to pillage & humiliation at the hand of foreign kings as it is today. But now, for a brief moment, the Lord our God has been gracious. (Spiritual commentary: Forgiven sins do have consequences. For instance, a child born out of wedlock has to be taken care of, perhaps by a single parent or by adoption.)

"Originally, there was no Bible. The books existed individually, but were not compiled into 1 giant book.
For over 300 years it was this way, and as squabbles over exactly what should be considered scripture and what shouldn't increased, the Church sat down in a few early councils & decided exactly what should & should not belong. Believe it or not, but if you dig around enough, you can find translations of documents written during these councils, complete with a list of 73 books considered valid scripture. Note that it was an inclusive list made, not an exclusive one, which means that more could potentially be added later, but none could be removed.
(the Orthodox church has done just that, too - added a few books since then).
For another 1,200 years, these 73 books were considered scripture (except in 10xx, where the Great schism occurred. This is about where the (Greek/Russian) Orthodox decided more books belonged (I think). About then, there became increasing dissent on exactly what belonged in the bible. Martin Luther wanted not just the 7 books called 'deutero-canon' (or apocrypha to people who don't consider it scripture) removed, but also Daniel & Revelation. Somewhere in there, the (Roman Catholic) Church held another council where it officially declared & settled the matter on what belonged in the bible and what didn't. The (Roman Catholic) Church tends to avoid officially settling an issue unless there is increasing dissent on it. But in this case, there was, so they made the 73 books officially official. (though remember, they were accepted just fine until this point) This occurred at the council of Trent (I think), which is an argument point for people who don't like those 7 extra books.
They seem to think that since it was officially declared then, that the books were only added then. but like I said, find an ancient transcript of some of the 1st (Roman Catholic Church) councils, & those books are included.
For a time afterward even, those 7 books were still included in the Bible - even Protestant ones - in a separate section labeled 'apocrypha'. Even the 1611 King James versions included it.
Only in the last couple of centuries were those books left out entirely."

Job 1: 5 - Early in the morning he (Job) would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them (his children) thinking, 'Perhaps my children have sinned & cursed God in their hearts.' This was Job's regular custom.
(This is a scriptural example for us to follow, to confess both our sins & the sins of our family members.)
Job 1:7-12 - The Lord said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the Lord, "From roaming through the earth & going back & forth in it....Have You not put a hedge around him (Job), his household & everything he has...Stretch out Your hand, strike everything he has, & he will surely curse You to Your face."
(We see here that Satin & not God is our accuser, who stands before God's throne condemning and accusing us day & night. Revelation 12:10)
Job 1: 12 - The Lord said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger." (Spiritual insight: Harm comes from Satan.)
Job 2:6-8 - "Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life." So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.
(Spiritual insight: Disease comes from Satan.)
Job 3:25 - The thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, & that which I was afraid of, is come unto me.
(Spiritual insight: Not to trust God is a sin needing repentance. We can reject/evict fear, in the name of Jesus.)
Job 17:5 - If a man denounces his friends for a (personal) reward, the eyes of his children will fail.
Job 20:11 KJV - His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.
Job 23:10 - "He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold."
Job 34:25 - His flesh shall be fresher than a child's. He shall return to the days of his youth.

Part 1 reveals the spurious nature of the sources used to establish the truth of Christianity and the existence of Jesus, & the equally spurious methods employed by many Biblical scholars. A brief interlude then leaves no doubt that the existence of the Christ of Faith is virtually impossible, & concludes that even the existence of a stripped-down Historical Jesus is uncertain. Bayesian reasoning is shown to justify skeptical views on many topics, including the existence of God.
Part 2 shifts the focus to the God of classical theism & monotheism, examining the evidence & arguments from scientific, historical, & philosophical perspectives. The inadequacy of the case for God is found to easily justify non-belief (atheism). Furthermore, considerations of alternative gods & conceptions of God, lead to game-changing concerns for Christians, Muslims and Jews.
