Scripture to defeat fear

Memorizing and quoting scripture out loud to ourselves, to God or to Satan produces fruit if we are persistent and do not quit. Remember to substitute your own name, when possible.

Genesis 14:18-20 KJVer Melchizedek, king of Salem, brought forth bread and wine. He was the priest of the Most High God. He blessed him, and said, "Blessed be Abram of the Most High God, possessor of heaven and earth. Blessed be the Most High God, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand." He (Abraham) gave him (Melchizedek) tithes of all. (Spiritual insight = Melchizedek represents Christ.)
Genesis 15:1 KJV "Fear not, Abram; I AM thy shield and thy exceeding great reward."

Exodus 14:12-13 Alexander Harkavy 12We did speak unto thee in Egypt, saying, "Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians (enemy/physical and spiritual evil/invisible demonic powers)? For it had been better to for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. 13Moses said, unto the people, "Fear ye not and stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will shew to you today; for the Egyptians whom ye have see today, ye shall see them no more for ever."
(There is a saying regarding choosing between Communism and war: "I'd rather be red than dead." Red being the symbol of Communism at that time.)
Exodus 14:14 NIV The Lord will fight for you. You need only to be still.
Exodus 23:17,31 Amplified 17I will send My terror before you and will throw into confusion all the people to whom you shall come; I will make all your foes (and demons) turn from you (in flight).
31I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand and you shall drive them out before you.

Joshua 1:1-9 KJV 1After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua, son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, 2"Moses My servant is dead. Arise. Go over this Jordan (river), you and all this people to the land which I do give to them, even to the children (descendents) of Israel. 3Every place that the sole of your feet shall tread upon, that have I given to you, as I said to Moses - 4from the wilderness and this Lebanon even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your (Mediterranean) coast.

(Spiritual insight = God had already promised the prize both to Moses and then to Joshua. However, the land was occupied by others. Thus they had to NOT faint, but rather battle for the promised prize.
God did not just plop it into their lap. The battle was both a spiritual and a physical war. The battle took time. The battle was bloody. Nobody wants to give up a stronghold, whether it is a demon, a tick on a dog, or a tenant who is under eviction. They were to act on what God said and NOT on their feelings.)

Judges 7:2-3 NKJV 2The Lord said to Gideon (Jerubbaal), "The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, 'My own hand has saved me.' 3Now therefore, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying, 'Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn and depart at once from Mount Gilead.'" 22,000 of the people returned (afraid), and 10,000 remained (unafraid). (Spiritual insight = God helps those willing to do it afraid.)

2nd Chronicles 20:15 KJVer Do not be afraid or dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's.

Nehemiah 4:20 Our God shall fight for us.

Job 3:25 The thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.
Job 4:14-15 Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake. Then a(n evil) spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up."
[Satan knew what Job was worrying about and took advantage of that fear (with God's permission) to test him. This is a reminder: to speak aloud God's promises of peace and safety; to zip our lips when it comes to speaking our fears.

Psalm 12:2    Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation.
Psalm 23:4    I will fear no evil for You (God) are with me.
Psalm 27:1    The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear?    The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:3    Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear.
Psalm 27:10    When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.
Psalm 30:2 TNAB 2I praise You, Lord, for You aided me up and did not let my enemies rejoice over me. 3O Lord, my God, I cried out to You and You healed me. (Notice, "He did" is past tense. It is done!)
Psalm 34:4    I sought the Lord and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.
Psalm 34:7    The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him (God) and He delivers them. (Spiritual insight = A healthy respect for God will keep us out of sin and into safety and health.)
Psalm 40:1-3 KJV    I waited patiently for the Lord. He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God.
Psalm 41:10-13 KJV    Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against you shall be ashamed and confounded. They shall be as nothing. They that strive with you shall perish. You shall seek them and shall not find them that contend with you. They that war against you shall be as nothing.
Psalm 56:3    Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.
Psalm 56:11 KJV    In God have I put my trust. I will not be afraid of what man can do to me.
Psalm 57:1 KJV      Be gracious to me, O God; be gracious to me, for my soul takes refuge in Thee. In the shadow of of Thy wings I will take refuge, until destruction passes by.
Psalm 91    He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in Whom I trust." Surely He will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the (1) terror of the night, nor the (2) arrow that flies by day, nor the (3) pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the (4) plague that destroys at midday. (Spiritual insight = Prior 4 categories cover all of God's covenant protection promises.)
A 1,000 may fall at your side, 10,000 at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. If you make the Most High your dwelling - even the Lord, Who is my refuge - then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent (house/place). For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all you ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. "Because He loves me," says the Lord, "I will protect him, for he acknowledges My name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation."
Psalm 107:6 NIV    They cried out to the Lord in their trouble and He delivered them from their distress.
Psalm 121:1-8 (KJV) I will lift up my eyes to the hills from where comes my help. My help comes from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved. He that keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He that keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper. The Lord is your shade upon your right hand. The sun shall not smite you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil. He shall preserve your soul (MIND, thoughts, memories, perceptions). The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth and even for evermore.

Proverbs 9:10      Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.
Proverbs 10:27    The fear of the Lord prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Proverbs 14:26    In the fear of the Lord, there is strong confidence.
Proverbs 29:25    Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

Isaiah 8:11-14    The Lord spoke to me with His strong hand upon me, warning...,"Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy, do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the One you are to regard as holy, He is the One you are to fear, He is the One you are to dread, and He will be a sanctuary (to you)."
Isaiah 8:17    I will put my trust in Him.
Isaiah 26:3    You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 35:3,4 KJV    Strengthen you the weak hands and confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, "Be strong, fear not. Behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense. He will come and save you."
Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)    They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 41:10    Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:13    "I the Lord Your God will hold your right hand," saying to you, "Fear not. I will help you."
Isaiah 43:11    "I, even I, am the Lord, and beside Me there is no savior."
Isaiah 54:5       For your Maker is your husband.
Isaiah 54:14-15 NIV    "Tyranny will be far from you. You will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed. It will not come near you. If anyone does attack you, it will not be My doing. Whoever attacks you will surrender to you...," declares the Lord.
Isaiah 54:17 KJV    "No weapon formed against you shall prosper...," says the Lord.

Jeremiah 1:19 (KJV) "They shall not prevail against you, for I am with you," says the Lord, "to deliver you."

Daniel 12:1 NIV At that time your people, everyone whose name is found written in the Book, will be delivered.

Joel 3:16 NIV The Lord will be a refuge (shelter) for His people, a stronghold.

Zechariah 2:5 (KJV) Says the Lord, "I will be to her a wall of fire round about and will be the glory in the midst of her."
Zechariah 10:12 (KJV) I will strengthen them in the Lord. They shall walk up and down IN THE NAME OF THE LORD.

Mark 4:39 He said to disciples, "Why are you so afraid; do you still have no faith?"

Luke 8:50     Do not be afraid. Only believe.
Luke 10:19    I give you the authority to trample on serpents, scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Luke 21:26    Man's heart failing them for fear. (Ongoing or sudden fear can precipitate heart failure.)
Luke 18:1      He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.

John 14:26-27    "The Counselor, the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Acts 27:23 "Last night an angel, of the God whose I am and whom I serve, stood beside me and said, 'Do not be afraid, Paul.'" (Here is a good spot to substitute your name for Paul's.)

Romans 8:15    For you have not received the (evil) spirit of bondage again to fear; bur you have received the (Holy) Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. (daddy, poppa)
Romans 8:31        If God is for us, who can be against us?
Romans 10:17    Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.   (We have had Scripture and doctrine preached at us. Now is the time to read God's thoughts for ourselves and allow the Holy Spirit to enter our hearts and our minds, so that true insight and true love might come and cast out fear.)

Hebrews 4:1-3   A promise was left allowing us to enter into His (God's spiritual and physical) rest. Let us fear, lest, any of you should seem to come short to it. Unto us was the gospel (of salvation and healing) preached, as well as to them, but the word (of God) preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. We who have believed do enter into rest...His work (of salvation and healing) has been finished since the creation of the world.

Hebrews 11:1    Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen.
Hebrews 13:5-6    God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"

James 4:7 Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (God gives us permission to resist Satan's negative emotions, curses and diseases.)

1st John 2:13    You have to overcome the wicked one.
1st John 4:17 NJKV    We may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world.
1st John 4:18 RKJV     There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out (looses/evicts/exterminates) fear because fear has torment. He that fears is not (yet) made perfect in love.

Revelation 2:9-10    "I (Jesus) know your afflictions and your poverty, yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jew and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do NOT be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you. You will suffer persecution 10 days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life."
Revelation 12:10-11    The accuser (Satan) of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down (to earth). They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.
(Spiritual insight = Our sins do not exist, for Christ has taken them upon himself, at the cross 2000 years ago, if we have apologized to Him. We refute the accusations of satin by stating that we are not guilty, and put our hand on the Bible, and swear that this is true, based on God's word in scripture.)
Revelation 21:8 KJVer    The (continually) fearful, unbelieving, abominable, murders, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters, liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the 2nd death.

Ideas

Reinhard Bonnke in Evangelism by Fire explains that fear is a standard weapon of all demons, and that demons are full of fear themselves, as scorpions are full of poison. Bonnke states that fear is Satan's venom and that we need to refuse fear, a lie, which only materializes if we accept it.

Capps, Charles "The things you fear (confess), you attract (enlist/solicit/call/beckon/permit with your spoken words)."

Benny Hinn reminds us to rebuke fear when it begins to torment us. If fear can torment, then it is not us but a living thing, an evil spirit. We can refuse to accept fear. We can command fear to go - in the name of Jesus.

Mark Hankin (and Kenneth E Hagin) say that feeling fear is not unbelief. Every one has fear. Choose to ignore fear. Do not rely on what you feel. Faith is not a feeling. One of the underlings of fear is night terrors and/or not feeling safe.
After Elouise was deceitfully and forcefully intoxicated with straight vodka (sweetened), her dad raped her. She was a virgin engaged to be married. Her fiancé dumped her. Later at school her counselor brought in a local authority who quizzed her and threatened jail, as any female over the age limit who commits incest (even if she is raped) is guilty, subject to local laws currently in place in her state.
Over the years she found that every healing ministry and/or deliverance ministry is a baby step towards 100% healing, because the Holy Spirit often takes a lot of time to peel off, layer by layer, hurts, root issues, lies of Satan and various things that need to be exposed, bound, forgiven, and/or placed under the feet/blood of Jesus.
In conclusion, she recognizes that she will never be perfect, for then she will never need Jesus. It is Jesus who is our better half! It is Jesus our husband, Who completes us, Who gives us safety, protection, and peace. That is a wonderful discovery.

There are tons of open doors for the many evil spirits of fear. "It is very helpful when the Lord enables the person to recall, or they themselves remember, the incident which allowed the spirit to enter." Simply, in the name of Jesus, repent, renounce, bind, evict, and refuse its return - each specific fear as it is exposed. For instance, there can be a fear of blood spirit + a root fear of bleeding to death spirit, which could have entered at the inception of a menstrual cycle at puberty.

Everyone knew that in 3 hours I should be dead. I don't believe anyone could tell what the pastor preached about that morning. They were waiting to see me fall over dead. When church was over, I still felt great. But during the 40 minute drive home we became afraid and I put the oxygen back on.
Monday morning when I got out of bed, I reached for my small tank and Jesus spoke to me, 'I told you yesterday you were healed. You don't need that anymore.' But then I started thinking, 'What if that's the devil telling me I'm healed, so he can kill me.' I told Roberta, 'I'm not going to use the oxygen, but just in case it is the devil, you watch me, and if you see me acting funny, you get me back on it quickly.'
Wednesday morning my oxygen truck came.   It had a machine that checked my pulse, heart rate, blood gasses and a bunch of other stuff. I hadn't used any oxygen or taken any pills since Monday morning. When I was checked, the report read 92 % for my blood gasses. For a man of my age that was perfect!
I told my doctor how Jesus had told me I was healed, and that I hadn't had any oxygen since Monday morning. 'And I haven't used any of your pills, either.' 'All you're trying to do is commit suicide,' he said. He had to run a test twice before he was convinced the reading was perfect...Praise His name."

Regarding social situations in which one is fearful:

Our own power is insufficient to foil the enemy.),
I bind all the sexual spirits that are not of God. I bind the spirit of lust, homosexuality, pornography, fornication, adultery, incest, and any other perversion of that would defile the marriage bed or defile me. I place these spirits under the feet of Jesus. Thank you Lord Jesus. Bless you Lord Jesus. I am grateful for your mighty power to deal with these enemies. Amen.
Men can also pray the same prayer for their own protection. Obviously, one needs to take the most important step: Keep away from being in such situations, such as visiting a gay bar, a strip joint, etc.

Most of us are fearful to witness (to minister salvation/healing/blessings to others). Before Peter received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, he fled and denied Christ 3 times. God allowed Aaron to minister with (be a spokesman for) Moses, due to Moses' timidity. God prefers that we ignore our own fear, but rather regard the feelings of others, including God. Sometimes that is not possible in our own strength. Sometimes the timing is wrong. Initially, Jesus' 12 disciples knew about the sozo (healing of body/mind/spirit) ministry, but they were powerless to duplicate what Jesus did. They had their college diploma in healing, head knowledge; they had yet to be commissioned and empowered by the Holy Spirit. (For all intents and purposes, initially, perhaps they were only capable of catching those who fell under the power of His Holy Spirit. Most all initial ministry may have been with their own human strength. When the baptism of the Holy Spirit came, they ministered in the strength of the Lord Jesus.)
Most Christians are intimidated by fear when contemplating/beginning ministry to another/others. When we back down/stall/procrastinate we lose/get an f/fail/flunk; only when we go through the valley afraid do we acquire faith and faithfulness. Joyce Meyer addresses this in her booklet, Do It Afraid.
When Elouise had in her hand the autobiography of Angel Wood (who was healed of severe mental retardation) www.garywoodministries.org , she walked past a group of downs syndrome young adults dining out. Out of fear she hesitated and chose to come back later; - too late, as they were gone. She had the key in her hand that would have helped free them from captivity to a disease most of them were born with, through no fault of their own. Tragedy. Fear is a thief and a murderer - of hope and freedom! For Christians, fear can also be a sin. We need to listen to and obey only what God says and NOT what our emotions feel and NOT what our body complains about. Negativity is NOT in God's vocabulary.
After much prayer and confession, out of the blue one day, the Lord pulled out a root of fear. HE, not she, had done that. Before, Elouise's initial reactions to unannounced phone calls/door knocks/staring strangers would have been to wince and respond like a victim. Now that automatic negative reaction is gone. Thank You Jesus.

Mention of this is due to the fact that REJECTION (and rebellion) are major reasons for (roots of) schizophrenia.
Fear, even fear of rejection, especially if one is isolated/lonesome, can trigger continual inappropriate responses or reactions to others (even putting ourselves in harms way or at a disadvantage, perhaps allowing others to knowingly or unknowingly take advantage of us, our time or resources),
perhaps even in disobedience to God
[for example, by our saying yes/nothing to (or having no way of escape from) a sexual advance/seduction/rape/kidnapping, perhaps to a person who has financial/emotional/physical power over us. This is especially true where isolated lonesome individuals become prey/victims in sexual relations (perhaps/sometimes trading/misunderstanding sex/lust for love/friendships).
Same sex victimization is especially sinister. Homosexuality/lesbianism/transgender lifestyle being an alternative normal choice is a demonic lie perpetrated in contradiction to scripture, especially since (a) the psychiatric DSM manuals removed the criteria/definition/ label that lesbianism/homosexuality is a character disorder and repackaged it as normal behavior and since (b) American legislation now often endorses/protects/promotes gay/bi-sexual rights and marriages. American media is at liberty to promote/advertise the gay lifestyle as titillating/preferable.
Scripture says that a day will come when one will call good bad and bad good. That day, in part, is here. Sin is a sin is a sin, no matter what society labels it. The cure or medicine is confession plus rejection of such a lifestyle. NOT a rejection of the person, but a rejection of the deed. One must flee a wrong lifestyle.
And it is NEVER too late, even if one has AIDs or HIV, which Doctor Jesus is happy to cure. healing 4 head 2 toe

When negative emotions such as fear ACT to flood/wash over/oppress/drown/possess/intimidate/take over/control one then both hormones such as adrenalin and demons plus old thought patterns and wrong habits can kick/trick us into relying on obeying those moods which attempt to domineer/boss/control/manipulate us.
Additionally, they can be the red flag of a charging bull warning us to flee, get out of the way of an approaching storm/tornado/holocaust/disaster.
So instead of automatically reacting/spiraling into fight or flight patterns and catatonia or hyperactivity, we can recognize these symptoms as alarms/safety warnings. We can speak to those emotions and say, "Oh, I recognize you. Go away in Jesus name. I place you under the blood of Jesus. I speak peace to myself. I speak the Word of God to this situation. I speak Psalm 91 to this situation. I speak Psalm 23 to this situation. Mind be at peace, in Jesus name. Body be at peace in Jesus name. Come Holy Spirit and dwell in my mind. Come Holy Spirit and dwell in my body. Thank You."

Reluctant as I was to think it, it sounded precisely like the activity of some demonic mocking spirit. What a frightening idea, that such a thing could invade my own child!
I tried to sound casual as I made the suggestion to Laura. 'You know, honey, that sounds a little like it might be an evil spirit.'
'Uh-huh.’
’Want to get rid of it?'
Laura nodded. I was grateful that the children knew about the ministry that I was getting into and accepted it quite naturally….
From what Laura had said I assumed the spirit’s name would be mockery, but to my surprise, when I commanded it to name itself, Laura answered firmly, 'Fear.' As I ordered the spirit of fear to come out, Laura grabbed herself across the midriff. Then she straightened up.
'I felt it leave,' said matter-of-factly. 'I’m fine now. G’nite, Daddy.' And she snuggled down against her pillow….
'Daddy?' Laura’s sleepy voice reached me at the door. 'I think I know when that old spirit came in.'
'You do? When?'
'Well, you know this afternoon when you and Mommy were so mad at me? And you said you might never see me again? Daddy, I got so scared! And I felt something laughing ever since.'…
This was how I began to explore, quite by accident within my own family, the ways in which an evil spirit can gain entry into the system. What happened with Laura, I felt, was that because of the afternoon’s trauma a crack appeared in her natural defences. As a child of God she was ordinarily protected from such invasions. Actually, however, It must work out often for us that because of some disturbance – a shock, an illness, an accident – our normal defences are let down. Obviously it doesn’t take long for an evil spirit to take advantage of the situation, get in and start doing its dirty work."
