Standing in the gap
for your children.

Scripture both old and new declares God's promises. They are ours for the taking if we repent, fast, and claim His Word.  First they are obtained in heaven.  Second they are manifested on earth.  If we doubt or faint, we loose.  We can claim His work accomplished 2,000 years ago on the cross, each time we receive His Son's body and blood in communion. Each generation has to learn and do the same thing.  Learn that Satan, sin and disease is dead/defeated/overcome/reversed/vanquished even if our present situation is manifesting evil, perhaps a mental illness.  We need to remind ourselves and the enemy that they are defeated, that we are at war with them, and victory is guaranteed for us, not them.
Father Hampsch in Healing Your Family Tree  www.claretiantapeministry.org  says that, "Many  disappointed parents do not avail themselves of the consolation in the promises of God's word."  Knowledge saves if we can find it and then apply it. For instance, there were, in the past, many people in mental institutions who could have been cured or helped by taking supplements or improving their diets (more live food + less junk food).  Vitamin B1 cures Beriberi, Vitamin B3 cures Pellagra and ameliorates Schizophrenia.  Vitamin B12, folic acid and Omega 3 oils ameliorate depression. Folic acid (a B vitamin) seems to lower high histamine levels in schizophrenics.  Lack of knowledge and lack of insight were the culprits in former times.  Today let us be obedient and tenacious to fight and not quit until our descendents are perfect in mind, body and soul.  We have an invisible weapon = God.  If God is for us, who be against us?

An interesting postscript, African pastor Robert Kayanja  http://kayanja.org  recommends that we do NOT share (tell others about) our family secrets, our family diseases, or our family issues with others, but only with those who will agree to uphold the person or issue in prayer before God and stand with us to fight the spiritual warfare, plus to praise and thank God in advance for His victory (whether it be gradual or miraculous, whether it be with doctors/caregivers or without human intervention).  Because his daughter was eventually cured of terminal cancer, Kayanja set up a trust fund to allow impoverished Ugandan Africans access to medical care.  He did this in spite of the fact that God has given him an awesome healing ministry, so do not be afraid to use the medical system until such time God is ready to intervene (or we are ready to receive).

We find that in the book of Exodus, Moses stands in the gap for Israel, the Jewish nation. 
As we read aloud the following scripture, we can replace the word "pharaoh/he" for "Satin/demon";
we can replace the words "this/Your people" with "my son/daughter"; and we can replace the word "Moses" with our own name.

Exodus 5:22 NIV    Moses returned to the Lord and said, "O Lord, "Why have You brought trouble upon this people and have not rescued Your people at all?" 
Exodus 6:1 NIV    Then the Lord said to Moses, "Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh.  Because of My mighty hand, he will let them go...."
Exodus 6:28 NIV    When the Lord spoke to Moses in Egypt, He said to him, "I am the Lord.  Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I tell you."  But Moses said to the Lord, "Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?"
Exodus 7:1 NIV    The Lord said to Moses, "See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh."
Exodus 8:1  NIV    The Lord said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and say to him, "This is what the Lord says, 'Let My people go, so that they may worship Me."

(Spiritual insight = The Passover Lamb, Jesus Christ, saves the entire household who applies/appropriates His blood.)
Exodus 34:5-8    5The Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him (Moses) and proclaimed His name, the Lord.  6And He passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7maintaining love to 1,000's and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.  Yet He does not leave the guilty unpunished; He punishes (allows demonic consequences to come upon) the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the 3rd and 4th generation."  8Moses bowed to the ground at once and worshiped. 

Moses led Israel out of slavery from Egypt and into the desert for a time of testing.  Moses stood in the gap, but it took 40 years to learn a l year lesson, so that generation stayed in the desert and missed out on entering into the promised land, Canaan (Israel).  However, the next generation was able to enter in, but only because Joshua believed when all else were too busy looking at circumstances instead of relying of God. 

Moses in his generation and Joshua in his generation were the ones who stood with God, above and beyond the entire nation of Israel.  Noah in his generation was the only man on the entire earth who had the guts to stand alone and trust, plus obey God.  Job was able to stand against the bad advise of his mate and friends, whereas Moses/Joshua stood against a Nation, and Noah stood against the entire world.  Point?  Scripture admonishes us to do all and then to stand!  Do not shrink from the fight.  Remember we do not fight against flesh and blood, but against powers!  If Noah, Moses, Joshua and Job stood alone, we too can stand, not in our own strength, but with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

Exodus 31:3    I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship.

Numbers 14:33    Your children will be shepherds here for 40 years-1 year for each of the 40 days you (sinned).  (Spiritual insight = We can stop a 40 year curse and we can begin a 40 year blessing.)

Deuteronomy 5:9    I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the 3rd and 4th generation of them that hate Me. (See also Exodus 20:5)
Deuteronomy 11:19-20    Teach God's laws to your children talking about them when you sit at home, when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up...so that your days and the days of your children may be many.
Deuteronomy 28:3-7 NKJV    3Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.  4Blessed shall be the fruit of your body (offspring), the produce of your ground, the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle, and the offspring of your flocks.  5Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.  6Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.  7The Lord will cause your enemies (who rise against you) to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you 1 way and flee before you 7 ways.
Deuteronomy 28:18      The fruit of your womb (children or offspring) will be cursed.
Deuteronomy 28:20      The Lord will send on you curses, confusion and rebuke in everything you put your hand to, until you are destroyed and come to sudden ruin because of the evil you (or your family) have done in forsaking Him.
Deuteronomy 28:22         He will send tuberculosis, fever, infections, plague.
Deuteronomy 28:27-28    He will send upon you Egyptian boils, tumors, scurvy, and itch, for none of which will there be a remedy.  He will send madness, blindness, fear, and panic upon you.
Deuteronomy 28:58 (KJV)    If  thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written this book, that thou may fear this glorious and fearful name, the Lord thy God; then the Lord will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed (descendants), even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.  Moreover He will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt. (This scripture shows that diseases can be inherited due to family sin.)
(Personal & family sin needs to be confessed to God, so God will forgive and eradicate the family diseases.)

Deuteronomy 30:19     I (God) have set before you life & death, blessings & curses.  Now choose life, so that you & your children (seed) may live and that you may love the Lord your God.  (Spiritual insight = Our choices; our sins affect our children.)

Joshua 1:3    "Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon, I (God) have given you."
Joshua 5:15 KJV    The captain of the Lord's (angelic) host said to Joshua, "Loose your shoe from off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy."  Joshua did so.

(Spiritual Principle = Both our healing and our salvation (+ our deliverance) were obtained 2000 years ago on the cross.  We need to go to Jesus and receive (take/appropriate) His free gifts.  Inheritance is always free, in that we do not deserve or work for the benefit.  As heir, we need to lay claim, if we believe.  God did His part.  Jesus did His part.  Now it is up to us to do our part.  Our choice.)

But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me 21 days.  Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia..."Do not be afraid, O man highly esteemed," he said.  "Peace.  Be strong now; be strong." 
(Spiritual Principle = As it takes 9 months to grow a baby after conception, so does it often take time for your answer or healing to manifest itself.  Believe that God is working on your behalf as He and His staff battle out in the unseen realm on your behalf.)

Hosea 4: 6    My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.  (Spiritual admonition = Let us be sure that we have read the entire Bible cover to cover.  Let us be sure that we understand that Jesus Christ died not only for our sins, but also for the healing of our minds, bodies and spirit)...Because you have ignored the law of your God, I will also ignore (forget) your children. (Unless we repent)

Matthew 15:22-28    A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to Him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me!  My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession (King James version says "is grievously vexed with a devil")."  Jesus did not answer a word, so His disciples came to Him and urged Him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us."   He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel."  The woman came and knelt before Him.  "Lord, help me!"  she said.  He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs."  "Yes Lord,"  she said, "but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table."  Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith!  Your request is granted."  Her daughter was healed from that very hour.       
Matthew 17:15-21 NIV    "Lord have mercy on my son," he said.  "He has seizures and is suffering greatly.  He often falls into the fire or into the water.  I brought him to Your disciples,     but they could not heal him."  "O unbelieving and perverse generation," Jesus replied, "How long shall I stay with you?  How long shall I put up with you?  Bring the boy here to Me."  Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the body.  He was healed from that moment.  Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, "Why couldn't we drive it out?"  He replied, "Because you have so little faith.  I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there and it will move.  Nothing will be impossible for you."

Matthew 16:19    "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
(Spiritual insight = This power was given to Christ's disciples after they received the Baptism of the Holy spirit.  Every spirit filled Christian has Christ's authority to bind evil and loose good, according to God's timing and will.)
Matthew 17:14-20 When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before Him.  "Lord, have mercy on my son," he said.  "He has seizures and is suffering greatly. [(KJV) He is a lunatic.] He often falls into the fire or into the water.  I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not heal him."  "O unbelieving and perverse generation," Jesus replied, "how long shall I stay with you?  Bring the boy here to me."  Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy and he was healed from that moment.  Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, "Why couldn't we drive it out?"  He replied, "Because you have so little faith.  I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there.' and it will move.  Nothing will be impossible for you." (Insight = Today's equivalent of disciples are priests, pastors, rabbis and other spiritual mentors who also fail to deliver our children.)                   
Matthew 17:21 (TLB)     "This kind of demon will not leave unless you have prayed and gone without food (fasted)"
Matthew 18:10  Their (guardian) angels always see the face of My Father Who is in heaven.
Matthew 18:18-20    I (Jesus) tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.  Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven.  For there 2 or 3 come together in My name, there am I with them.
(Spiritual insight = Do not isolate yourself from your spiritual family.)
Matthew 19:26    Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." 

Mark 5:23 NIV    My little daughter is dying.  Please come and put Your hands on her, so that she will be healed and live.  So Jesus went with him.
Mark 7:25-26,28-30 NIV    A woman whose little daughter was possessed (demonized) by an evil spirit came and fell at His feet.  The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia.  She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter..."Lord", she replied, "But even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs."  Then He told her, "For such a reply, you may go. The demon has left your daughter."  She went home and found her child lying on the bed and the demon gone.
Mark 9:17-29    A man in the crowd answered, "Teacher, I brought You my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech.  Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground.  He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid.  I asked Your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not."  "O unbelieving generation." Jesus replied, "How long shall I stay with you?  How long shall I put up with you?  Bring the boy to Me."  So they brought him.  When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion.  He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. Jesus asked the boy's father, "How long has he been like this?"  "From childhood," he answered.  "It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him.  But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us."  "If You can?", said Jesus.  "Everything is possible for him who believes."  Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief."  When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, He rebuked the evil spirit. "You deaf and mute spirit," He said, "I command you, come out of him and never enter him again."  The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out.  The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, "He's dead."  But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.  After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, "Why couldn't we drive it out?"  He replied, "This kind can come out only by prayer (and fasting KJV)."
Mark 11:22-24     Jesus answered, "Have faith in God.  I tell you the truth; if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.  Therefore I tell you; whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have (already) received it, and it will be yours.  
Mark 11:25-26    When you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.  (KJV) If you do not forgive, neither will your Father, Who is in heaven, forgive you your trespasses."

Luke 9:38-43    "I beg you (Jesus) to look at my son, for he is my only child.  A(n evil) spirit seizes him and he suddenly screams; it throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth.  It scarcely ever leaves him and is destroying him.  I begged Your disciples to drive it out, but they could not." Jesus replied, "O unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I stay with you and put up with
you(r unbelief).  Bring your son here."  Even while the boy was coming, the demon threw him to the ground in a convulsion.  But Jesus rebuked the evil spirit, healed the boy and gave him back to his father.  And they were all amazed at the greatness of God. (Spiritual insight = Before the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, even the apostles were intimidated by demons.  However, after one receives the Holy Spirit Baptism, he receives both courage and authority to cast out demons.)

Luke 16:22-31 NIV        "When the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side, the rich man also died and was buried.  In hell, where he was in  torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.  He called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'  Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things.  Now he is comforted here and you are in agony.  Besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'  He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, for I have 5 brothers.  Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'  Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'  'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if  someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'  He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone (such as Jesus Christ) rises from the dead.'"

John 4:46-54    There was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to Him and begged Him to come and heal his son, who was close to death...Jesus replied, "You may go. Your son will live."  The man took Jesus at His word and departed.  While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living.  When he inquired as to the time when his son  got better, they said to him. "The fever left him yesterday at the 7th hour."  Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, "Your son will live." (Spiritual insight = As Jesus is still alive, we can take Him at His word now for our healing and also for the healing of our children.)

Acts 2:17-18  (Joel 2:28-32) 17"In the last days," says God, "that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons (Adam/Bill/______) and your daughters (Ann/Betty/_________) shall prophesy; your young men shall see visions, your old men (grandpa ______ ) will dream dreams.  18Even on My servants (father, sister, brother, pastor, rabbi ________ ), both men and women, I will pour out My Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy."
Acts 2:38-39    Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off - for all whom the Lord our God will call.  (Spiritual insight= We all have been called, but all have not recognized His call...Let us claim with tenacity God's promises, both for ourselves and for those on our hearts. Jesus is the boat to eternal life, but it is His Holy Spirit that is the sail/oars/motor/power  in the boat.)
Acts 9:15-18 TPNT  15The Lord said to him (Ananias), "You must be going, because this one is a chosen vessel for Me, to carry My name before heathens and even kings and children of Israel; 16for I will show him how much it is necessary for him to suffer on behalf of My name." 
17Then Ananias left and and entered the house; when he placed his hands on him said, "Saul, brother, the Lord has sent me, Jesus the One Who set upon you on the way while you were coming, so that you would regain your sight and you would be filled with the Holy Spirit."  18Immediately there fell away from his eyes something like scales, and he regained sight; then when he got up he immersed (was baptized).

Acts 16:30-31 NKJV    He brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"  They said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."

1st Corinthians 15:25-29 NIV    He (God) must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.  The last enemy to be destroyed is death, for He has put all things under His feet.  Now when He says that everything has been put under Him, it is clear that this does not include God Himself, Who put everything under Christ.  When He has done this, then the Son Himself will be made subject to Him Who put everything under Him, so that God may be all in all. 
Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead?  If the dead are not raised at all, why are the people baptized for them? (Commentary from Father John H Hampsch's Healing Your Family Tree = "Original sin can be erased through baptism...Personal sin, on the other hand, can be erased through repentance.")

James 1:5    If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally and upbraids (scolds/shames us) NOT, and it shall be given  to him.

God, our Father, stood in the gap for all of us by providing a stop-gap, Jesus, who had 100% human flesh and 100% Holy Spirit.  (We see the unholy union between evil spirit and woman that produced giants in the book of Genesis in the Old Testament.) Jesus stands in the gap for us between punishment and forgiveness, between illness and healing, plus between eternal life and hell.  God, our parent, suffered vicariously for us, His children.  We understand the suffering of a parent for a child. However, God provided a remedy, Jesus.  Jesus took all our emotional wounds and all our physical wounds.  All the hurts and violations done-to-us and all the hurts and violations done-to-others by us, God the Holy Spirit took upon Himself in the body of Jesus Christ upon the cross.  I believe that is why God allowed such violence to happen to His son.  It was not the rectifiable crucification in His flesh that did the spiritual violence.  Instead it was the harm done to us and the harm we did to others, since the inception of the world until the end of the world, that Christ took upon His body on the cross.  In scripture it says that He became sin, for us.  He became our substitute sacrifice required in the old testament to atone for evil commissions and evil omissions.  He, as our "scape goat" was punished in our stead.  Most parents would willingly take their children's hurts upon themselves in order to eliminate the anguish observed in their children.  Our sins and diseases were eliminated on Jesus' cross 2000 years ago.  It was a physical enactment of a spiritual sacrifice needed to defeat Satan, yesterday, today, and tomorrow. 

When we go to heaven, we become healthy and young.  No illness, disease, sin, aging, or deterioration is allowed in heaven.  After death, not only did Jesus get OK, but our children will be perfect in heaven, too.  Nonetheless, we do not need to wait till death.  Today, we can appropriate what Jesus did on the cross; remove all sin and disease.  We need to take God at His word.  Only those who BELIEVE, receive.  Doug Jones in Positioning Yourself to Receive Healing  www.dougjonesministries.org  admonishes us to provide ourselves and our children a proper spiritual foundation on which to stand, so that we can claim Mark 11:22-25   "Have faith in God," Jesus answered. "I tell you the truth.  If anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does NOT doubt in his heart but BELIEVES what he SAYS will happen, it will be done for him.  Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, BELIEVE that you have (already) received it, and it will be yours.  When you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that you FATHER in heaven may forgive you your sins." So what is the point?  When will Jesus heal our child? Now or tomorrow? Maybe or certainly?  Is my child healed now?  You see, dear ones, it does not matter what we see with our eyes.  It matters what we see with our heart.  If Jesus said, "It is finished", on the cross, then our healing is accomplished 2000 years ago.  The "when" depends on "when we believe" and not on if or when the healing will be manifested.  Our scientific evidence is NOT to be what we hear with our ears or see with our eyes.  It is to be only what God says in scripture.  Nothing else.  Nothing.

If you find notes/poems/diaries/writings of your child (or if you are that child), there is something you can do right now.  Underline or circle each word that exposes which spirit is acting out.  For instance, if you see the word fear, then mark that.  Individually for each negative emotion say this prayer, which you may also write down -
In the name of Jesus Christ, I  bind the spirit of fear (or __________________) and place it under the feet of Jesus.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I unbind the peace (or ____________________) that the enemy has stolen and loose it in the life of _________________________.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I reject fear (or ___________________) and command it never to return (to _________________________.)
If fear returns say, "In the name of Jesus Christ, I told you to go.  I cover (myself or _________)
with the blood of Jesus.  Go away.  Stay away, in the name of Jesus."
Repeat prayer again for each spirit.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I bind the spirit of terror (or _________________)  see above
In the name of Jesus Christ, I bind the spirit of confusion (or ______________) see above
In the name of Jesus Christ, I bind the spirit of deception (believing Satan's lies as being my own thoughts or the thoughts of God) see above

Then you can take the writings to communion and receive communion, placing those evil spirits under the blood of Christ.
Finally you can burn the writings in the fireplace as an offering of praise to God, that He through His son Jesus overcame the enemy - 1st on the cross - 2nd during His resurrection, that the victory is yours now in this generation, and that the inheritance/blessing/answer was obtained 2000 years ago, waiting to be recognized and captured back from the enemy.  Be reminded, Joshua representing Moses, had to fight to acquire the land of Israel.  God did not just plop it into his hands.  Yet, verbally it was his for the taking.  The earth became the property of squatters (fallen angels), because Adam defaulted, but Jesus came and  got the title/deed back.  Now each generation has to recognize who they are spiritually.  Each spiritual heir needs to assert his legal authority and reclaim any stolen soul/property/time/future.  A dog will not give up a yummy bone, unless he has an incentive.  Give the enemy an incentive and he will flee.

God held a stop light at red until the father of a mental patient asked God, "What do You want from me?"  The response was, "Thank Me for your daughter's condition."  The light turned green when the dad obeyed.  When he arrived at the mental institution, the daughter was well.
(The very least we can do is thank God for what good He is doing in us, due to this family disaster.  Be reminded that Joseph declared to his brothers that what the enemy had meant for evil, God had meant for good.  Pearls are only formed/triggered/caused by sandy irritants!)

He placed his Bible open the floor and stood on it because he had read something about 'standing on the Word.'  He placed a handkerchief on his head (not sure what that was about) and sang a few lines from a song;  'I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continuously be in my mouth.'  Before we knew it, a (holy) wind rushed into the building & knocked 200 on the floor and that was the end of that meeting!"

On the secular side, regarding what your doctor may have never told you:

1 - It is important to be aware of the psychiatric issues of mental illness:

    a - Distorted thinking = stinking thinking
    b - Loss/lack of insight  (Psychiatric issues are not the person's fault!)
    c - Delusions (False beliefs, such as someone who has never dated you wants to marry you.)
    d - Hearing of voices (God DID speak to men in the old testament and in the new testament
       - in person, in dreams, and in visions.  Also, be reminded that the devil has his own bag of tricks.)
    e - Seeing Holy visions. Psychiatrists will use this as an excuse to label one insane!
    f - Side effects of medications often mimic side effects of a psychiatric illness.  Beware. Danger!
    g - Having interfering noises in the head (that need to be drown out with loud music, for example).
    h - Doing, believing, saying, feeling, thinking for/with "no reason" comprehensible to your child, or
      for which the child is afraid to share, for fear of being misunderstood, ridiculed, punished or rejected.
    i - Misinterpreting life, such as another's hand motions meaning something personal to you.
    j - Reading others thoughts - incorrectly.  Receiving messages from others or a radio/TV- falsely.
    k - Interpreting life differently now than before.
    l - Fearful of most life circumstances and most people.
    m- Secretive.
    n - Religion often dogmatic rather than a relationship to God. 
         Often fear have committed unforgivable sin.  Often fear have lost one's salvation.
    o - May have begun to practice repetitive obsessive compulsive behaviors, like washing hands
         continually as to wash away sin.  Does person need to go to a priest (or to God) for confession?
    p - May have begun to neglect personal hygiene and to miss pot when urinating or to wet the bed.
    q - May have begun to eat inappropriately, too fast, too much, only junk food, etc.
    r - May have begun to sleep too much or walk too much.
    s - Food may taste differently.
    t - Interests and talents may be entirely different. 
    u - May not be able to concentrate in school or at work due to interfering thoughts.
    v - Blaming others or self; excessively critical, especially of self.  (False condemnation often comes
         from Satan.  Regular confession is a good practice and helps to eliminate any unconfessed sin.)
    w - Impulsive, getting oneself into danger.
    x - Takes more than gives and is often unable to hold down a job, do regular chores, shovel snow.
    y - May not be able to write checks, balance a check book, and may hand out money to strangers.
    z - Onset is often around age 20, where role reversal arises, causing conflicts between parent/child.

Mike Murdock was told that mental illnesses such as schizophrenia may be caused by receiving intellectual information that one is not emotionally mature enough to receive. This is called emotional trauma.  This is a trigger that may open the door to mental illness.  It behooves parents to shield sensitive children or young adults from sensitive information, especially if there is a history of mental illness in the family genealogy.

WARNING - regarding standing your children

Parents or caretakers of the mentally ill relatives can get burned out.  We can so identify or emphasize with them that we are also weighted down and become useless ourselves, so our enemy has knocked down two pins with one ball.  A bowling ball strike.  Our Father God wants us to grow, to be mowed down to the ground, to our knees.  He wants us to walk on our knees 24 hours a day, but not in tears, but in praise.  His tears created the river of mercy that flows from His throne of righteousness.  Remember when the disciples were thrown into prison?  They sang and rejoiced in their misery.  Their circumstances did not determine their countenance. Tears are OK for a day, but not for a week, or a month, or a year or two.  Why?  Because one cannot fight the enemy with tears.  The victory is ALREADY WON by Christ on the cross 2000 years ago.  Then let us go and claim that.  Let us march around, shout and sing as did Joshua when he marched around the city wall before it fell.  Who knocked the wall down?  God.  We are nothing.  Nobodies.  It is God Who does the work.  We think it is us who is responsible to get our loved one well.  A lie.  Lay down that heavy weight and pick up God's weapon of praise.  Let us claim the victory, already bought and wrapped,  under the Christmas tree, waiting to be opened.  Let every step we take be upon the enemy. 

Let us forget to NEVER rely on our feelings, for they are deceitful and sabotage.  They, like the enemy, can trick us, the same way they trick our mentally ill loved ones.  Only and ALWAYS rely on the word of God.  Test everything with scripture.  Jesus did what His father did.  We are to do and SAY what Jesus did.  Then we will survive, and our beloved mentally ill will also thrive and blossom.  Blessings.

PS     Let us be reminded, while both we and our beloved mentally ill are groaning waiting for our redemption to manifest itself in healing, we are growing up in the Lord  The longer He delays, the more mature we become.  If the healing were a year or two ago, rather than today, look how much we would not have grown up.  That would be a real spiritual disadvantage.  We would no longer be seeking a healing nor would we be seeing the healer with the same fervency.  Let us be grateful that it is taking so long, through the Moses desert, and let us fail not to get to the promised land by looking to ourselves or to the healing rather to the healer.  If we find the healer instead of the healing, we will have found both!
When our children were little, we were so busy making a living for them and so busy insisting that they be perfect and holy, that we missed their childhood, we missed smelling the flowers, we missed laughing in the rain, we missed many of the grandparents' hugs, we missed what God wanted us to experience.  Let us not miss the joys in the midst of any disability, the present moment, the youth that is fast fleeting.  Let is not see the disability and miss the person locked inside.  Let us not miss what God wants us to experience now.

Joyce Meyers says that God operates like we do with estate planning.  We appoint a legal guardian until our child is of age.  God has appointed His Holy Spirit to handle our spiritual inheritance until we grow up spiritually.  Often we point our finger at God and demand His spiritual promises for our children when neither we, nor they, are mature enough to handle those promises. The promises are legally ours, but we may not be ready to have them - yet.

Chapter 11 Sins of the Father  believes that sin is a consequence/symptom of unfaithfulness to God.  Rather than repent for each sin to which our forefathers/parents are responsible individually to God, we are to repent of their heat attitude of unfaithfulness to God. According to Hinson, "You cannot repent on their behalf anymore than you can ask Jesus to enter their hearts and then claim salvation for them." 
Hinson also believes that we cannot stand in the gap for another regarding curses, that only the one affected (who is under the curse) can repent for his forefather's unfaithfulness to God and then reverse/break off himself such a generational curse. [We respectfully disagree with this, especially if parents are standing in the gap, if person is psychotic or unable to think in a normal manner (senile/drugged/retarded/etc.), and if individual is working with others to prevent relapse.]
Finally, Hinson admonishes to covenant with God on behalf of himself, his family, and his descendants to love, honor and obey.  Repenting for family unfaithfulness to God and committing one's family to God, is an honest attempt to sever all generational curses and begin generational blessings.

English psychiatrist McAll believed in healing masses where one identifies family sin/sinners and confesses those ancestor's/family sins.  He believed in praying for the dead, but not to the dead, which is forbidden in scripture.  Repentance for a particular sin in the family tree, often results in the healing of family diseases including schizophrenia.
Communion does not need to be a Catholic mass.  It can be a home or Protestant celebration.  What one is doing is repenting for one's own + family sins that create family curses, which are inherited.  Repenting and renouncing sin allows God to forgive sin, cancel curses, and erase disease/consequences.  Isn't Jesus awesome!

Then, in the name of Jesus we need to command every evil spirit who entered us to leave.  In the name of Jesus we need to close the door to any departed evil spirit.  We ask the Holy Spirit to fill that vacant place.  Finally, we thank and praise Him for doing all that we have requested.  The foundation for any spiritual work is our accepting Jesus as savior.  If we have not done this, then any spiritual warfare will not stick.  The problem will return.  Additionally we have even more protection, if we have asked Jesus to baptize us in His holy Spirit.  We need to do this immediately after we receive Jesus as our savior.  Give yourself permission to speak for 15 minutes in tongues (a heavenly language unrecognized by your mind) as it tumbles into your mind from your heart/spirit.

This book is mostly for couples, but also has a chapter for children and teens.  The book admonishes us to fill up the love tank of another with their primary love language, so they will be free to love others.  We can often notice this primary need by how they express themselves or by what they ask for.  If they usually give us things, then perhaps they want to be given things.  Then even a flower that costs little or nothing may satisfy their neediness and free them to be more peaceful and more able to meet our needs.  Often one's love language remains throughout life, so it can be discovered early on.

Is based on missionary to China John A. MacMillan's The Authority of the Believer and on Jesus' 8 visits to him (Hagin).  The key points of the book can be found under the same title on CD.  Hagin admonishes us to continually pray aloud for ourselves and then later for others Ephesians 1:16-20 + Ephesians 3:14-19.  Seminary degrees and theological understanding are insufficient/incomplete without the Holy Spirit teaching our human spirit and His intervention in the lives of the non or baby Christians wearing demonic eyeglass. 
Much of traditional Christianity is based on one's future life in heaven.  Hagin shares that this wrong assumption (encouraged by our enemy) allows us to live an entire lifetime as an impotent born-again individual.  Even if one is baptized in water as an adult (as opposed to infant baptism) and subsequently baptized in the Holy Spirit, it avails nothing if the born-again child of God intellectually assents to both but never acts on his authority (over Satan) deeded to him when Christ Jesus sat down at the right hand of God.  (Scripture seems to indicate that all those who have had infant baptism, including Catholics, need to be water baptized as adults, even if it is done in a bathtub/shower/lake/ocean/river.  The sacramental rite of baptism in a church would seem to be the preferred method.  If need be one can baptize oneself or have another do it. Baptism of water)
Hagin reminds us that we have spiritual authority over our own households and those residing or visiting on our property. 2nd we do NOT have authority over another's will, but rather over the evil spirits affecting/oppressing another individual in our household, occupying our space, or in our presence.  Once that person leaves our household/family or home/congregation/job then that evil spirit is free to attempt to get the individual to consent to its interference.  When we pray, we speak directly TO the evil spirit and command it to decease and desist, in the name of Jesus.  There is no time or distance in the spirit, so the evil spirit has to immediately obey.  We always speak and rely on the Word of God and NEVER on sight/feelings/results.  We do NOT speak to the individual NOR to God, in this instance, for this purpose.

Squids have a defense mechanism of squirting out black ink-like liquid to block the view of others.  Demons, for all intents and purposes, do this too.  However, we can reverse this when we speak TO the enemy and TELL him to dissolve/become nothing, in the name of Jesus.  Hagin has a testimony like this which will help clarify our authority over evil.

In chapter 4 Death Lays Claim Clarice Holden blurts out regarding her injured husband Ronnie Holden, "No! No! I will not believe it.  They say he has brain damage.  I refuse those words....It's just not true.  No way, absolutely not.  He does not have brain damage." 
In chapter 5 The Warrior Clarice would look at Ronnie and proclaim, "Doesn't he look great today?"  The medical staff would "pretend they agreed with her.  After all, Ronnie was still alive."
Such stubbornness and fight is what is needed in the body of Christ to overcome the invisible enemy of destruction and death.  Her stance (plus the intervention of many others) over time saved Ronnie.
Clarice proclaimed, "Ronnie is going to get better.  Right now he needs people who stand in faith.  I  don't want to see tears, and I don't want to hear doom and gloom..  In fact, no one can go in to see Ronnie unless they are willing to believe that Ronnie will be healed.  I won't let anyone see him unless they can believe for his recovery.  From now on there must be positive agreement.  Everyone must have faith for Ronnie."
Chapter 13 Triumphant Reentry shares, "Armies of the Lord, both human and angelic, rose to the  occasion.   They fought the battle and took back what Satan had stolen.  This was God's triumph."

Mark 7:32-35   There some people brought to Him a man who was deaf and could hardly talk, and they begged Him to place His hand on the man.  After He took him aside, away from the crowd, (away from unbelievers,) Jesus put His fingers into the man's ears.  Then He spit and touched the man's tongue.  He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, "Be opened..."  At this, the man's ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly.
Mark 8:22-25    They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.  He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village.  When He had spit on the man's eyes and put His hands on him. Jesus asked, "Do you see anything?"  He looked up and said, "I see people; they look like trees walking around."  Once more Jesus put His hands on the man's eyes.  Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. 
(Spiritual insight = Not all healings are instantaneous miracles.)

Luke 4:40-41    When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying His hands on each one, He healed them.  Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, "You are the son of God!"  
Luke 7:2-10    A centurion's servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die...He (Jesus) was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to Him, "Lord, don't trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have You come under my roof.  That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you.  But say the word, and my servant will be healed...When Jesus heard this, He was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following Him, He said, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel."  Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.

Acts 5:15-16    People brought the sick into the streets and laid them on  beds and mats so that at least Peter's  shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.  Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and ALL of them were healed.
Acts 8:7    With shrieks, evil spirits came out of many, and many paralytics and cripples were healed.

Standing in the gap for - anyone

Often it takes a village, a team, to stand in the gap for another who is ill in mind &/or body.

Genesis 32:30:33 KJV    Moses said to the people, "You have sinned a great sin.  Now I will go up to the Lord.  Perhaps I shall make an atonement for your sin."  Moses returned to the Lord and said, "Oh, this people have sinned a great sin and have made gods of gold.  Yet now, will You forgive their sin?  If not, blot me out of Your book which You have written."  The Lord said to Moses, " I will blot out of My book whoever has sinned against Me."  (Only One can stand in the gap for another's eternal life.  That is Jesus Christ.  Yes, we can intercede and God's angels can help, but only the power of Jesus is strong enough to redeem anyone from hell.)

Exodus 17:11-13 NIV    As long as Moses help up his hands, the Israelites were winning.  Whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning.  When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it.  Aaron and Hur held his hands up - one on one side, one on the other - so that his hands remained steady till sunset.  So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.
(Even Moses, a spiritual giant, needed human help to overcome the enemy.)

Deuteronomy 9:18-20 NKJV    18"I (Moses) fell down before the Lord, as at the 1st, 40 days and 40 nights;  I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin which you committed in doing  wickedly in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger.  19For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which the Lord was angry with you, to destroy you.  But the Lord listened to me

(Spiritual insight = The one who holds the strings of a puppet is the puppeteer.  Often the puppeteer in the lives of our enemies is Satan.  In the name of Jesus, we bind strongholds, which/who are spiritual powers/demons.)

(Spiritual insight = many diseases have a root issue of sin. www.pleasantvalleychurch.net )"  The scribes and Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is This that speaks blasphemies?  Who can forgives sins, but God alone?"  Jesus perceived their thoughts. Answering, He said, "What do you reason in your hearts?  What is easier to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you.' or 'Rise up and walk?'  That you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, I say to you (man with palsy), 'Arise, take up your couch, and go to your house."  Immediately he rose up. 
Luke 5:31    Jesus answered, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick."

Chapter 15 Soulish Prayers is an eye opener.  It condemns our condemning!  Why?  Because it is the role of Satan and his cohorts. 
If we join the chorus, we are on the enemy's side!  Prince gives us an apt story of a missionary to India called Praying Hyde.  God would not allow him to speak out loud in his prayers to Him that a certain Indian evangelist was cold, lacking fire or fruit.  Instead he was inspired to praise all the attributes of this individual.  Behold.  Within months, the evangelist was transformed and effective.  Prince warns us to always begin intercession with thanksgiving/praise to God for the individual.  He warns us never to point a finger, which is Satan's tactic. 
Every time we break this spiritual law, we cause harm to the unsuspecting individuals.  We can actually SEND demonic arrows/spirits of heaviness, guilt, condemnation when we speak or think negative, critical, judgmental prayers.  God, not I, is to be judge.  Always. 
Prayers to God attempting to control or accuse others may backfire and CAUSE broken relationships with man AND God.
Chapter 14 Soulish Talk shares how gossip causes/sends actual physical harm/pain, like that of witchcraft.  This is a sin!

The story of Lazarus, a man who fell sick and died in the natural realm of life, gives you the spiritual parallel." 
John 11:44 NIV  Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and let him go." 
Savard asks, "What are the grave clothes we are to loose from those who are bound up today? 
Whatever is hindering their response to the voice of Him Who is calling them -
word curses, wrong agreements, slander, wrong teachings, fears, doubts, wrong beliefs, unforgiveness...
Much of that stuff, the grave clothes, comes from those who have decided these (people)...are probably spiritually dead, gone and hopeless.  Grave clothes also come from 'well-meaning' Christian relatives and friends who have exposed every detail of those who are bound and faltering - their failures, sins, secrets - in the name of sharing 'prayer requests'...
You don't have to share private things better left unsaid in order to get someone else to agree with you...
You loose strongholds, wrong patterns of thinking, wrong motives, deception, denial, and wrong agreements from them.  You can stop trying to discover and deal with all the gory details.  That is the Holy Spirit's job.  Grave clothes are hung every time you share the intimate details...These details, once spoken into existence, can seem to take on a life of their own...Returning, lost sheep can find themselves faced with a nasty residue of the revealed history of their past actions. 
In addition to fighting the devil and struggling...their...souls...are slamming them with shame and feelings of guilt.  They have to also overcome (others') curiosity, legalistic watchfulness, and self-righteous judgments."  We, however, have the spiritual "right to bind another person's will to God's will...another person's mind to the mind of Christ"  It works for Savard.

Chapter 13 The Levels continues to stress that God/Christ is our authority and we are His representative delegated to act on His behalf.  Knowing will not get the sick/disabled healed.  We need to step out and act as His attorney/mate/employee/staff/delegate.  We need to command/speak/decree to any adversity that it is now nonexistent/gone/poof/dead, in the name of Jesus, because of whatever relevant scripture.  Make sure you have looked up the applicable scriptures.  Memorize them!  If necessary, buy yourself a concordance. 
Get up 1 hour earlier daily to proclaim victory into the 2nd heaven and to send praise into the 3rd heaven until the problem is gone! If you are a parent, boss or supervisor, you have spiritual authority over anyone and anything under you. 
You can legally spiritually stand in the gap for those under you; Satan is a legalist; if you win the case, he has to concede/recede!

In Chapter 8 Dealing with the Thief we learn that God commands us to take authority over Satan and demand 7x what he has stolen from us, if it his doing and not due to our own sin.

Be reminded that Job was given 2x what Satan stole.  [Job 42:10 TNAB The Lord even gave to Job twice as much as he had before.]
Chapter 9 the Final Court of Appeal shares an awesome approach to the Judge of the universe.  Brown also reminds us to place a restraining order on Satan and his staff, in the name of Jesus.

Jesus already won the battle.  His staff (the church members) need to enforce/maintain that defeat.  (The end of each civil and world war is seldom the end of the fighting.  It usually takes time for the victor to vanquish the enemy.  Even if a judge rules against someone in court, the jailors need to arrest and imprison the convict.)  Jesus says, "I'll give it to them, but they will have to possess it.  And the way they possess it is through intercessory prayer and soul travail for the lost."  The Israelites had to overtake/conquer the inhabitants occupying the land of Israel that God promised them.  We have to run off the spiritual enemy, too, that is squatting on the people and land for which we pray.

Culpability

As parents, bosses, mates, siblings, etc, we often accidentally or sometimes deliberately or even in our immaturity and stupidity cause harm to another.  Satan clothed as a snake, deceived and tricked Eve, who in turn enticed Adam.  Papa God allowed them to choose, to disobey Him, and for harm to come upon the entire world as a consequence.  What horror.  What agony to realize the travesty of their choice upon themselves, upon their mate, upon their children, upon all their descendents.  What turmoil to realize that Satan had deliberately been the root cause.  What turmoil for Papa God to realize that He had allowed this. What agony of Papa God to see the hurt He had allowed through the freedom of choice and through the deception of the enemy.  Yes, Papa God, please forgive all our ancestors.  Yes, Papa God, please forgive us.  Yes, Papa God, we forgive You.  Yes, Papa God, we recognize who the real enemy or traitor is - Satan.  Yes, Papa God, like Job, we repent for all the sins of our ancestors, plus, in Jesus name, we forbid any iniquity to be transmitted to/inherited by our seed.  We pray and confess like Joseph that what the enemy intended for evil will be transformed like a butterfly caterpillar into something beautiful for You and Your Kingdom.  Thank you for remedying the original sin of Adam and Eve by sending Your Son Jesus the Messiah - to stand in the gap.  You are a wonderful heavenly Father that can reverse our mistakes.  We thank You and bless You with great joy.  Amen.

When our heart breaks for someone to be fixed, it can bring to mind Father God as He is weeping, too, for the same situation.  He already fixed the situation, through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ, Messiah.  He is waiting on us to join Him in warfare to complete our job assignment in this generation for all those for whom His Son was sacrificed 2000 years ago.  Jesus said, "It is finished."  In Jesus name, may that be true for those for whom we pray right now.  Amen.
