Role of the Gut-Brain Axis and Your Health (biohmhealth.com)
- (edited)
Microbiome’s Role in
the Gut-Brain Connection
- "The
microbiome is thought of as the singularly most important component of the gut-brain
axis.
Often referred to as the “2nd brain,” the gut microbiome
plays an essential modulation role in regulating bidirectional
communication & daily brain function.
The thousands of diverse microbes in the gut
produce a variety of chemicals that play an essential biochemical
modulation role over many body systems. Including the ENS, CNS, neuroendocrine
system,
which are all vital in maintaining whole-body health via the gut-brain
axis."
How Gut-Brain Axis Works
- "There are 3 main avenues that
the gut & brain use to maintain their bidirectional communication & mutual
influence. Including 1) the Vagus nerve, 2) neurotransmitters & 3)
microbial metabolites."
Vagus nerve & neurons
- "The Vagus Nerve & neurons are 2 essential neurological modulators
of the gut-brain axis.
Neurons are cells of
the nervous system, both found in the CNS & gut, whose signals influence
body behavior. These cells also assist activation of the Vagus
nerve, the
main connector between the gut & brain.
Bidirectional
communication via the Vagus nerve stimulates activates from fat storage &
inflammation in the gut to stress-effects on the brain."
Neurotransmitters
- "Neurotransmitters are produced by both the brain & digestive system &
maintain the chemical connection between the gut & brain.
Neurotransmitters
produced in the brain contribute to mood & body clock stabilization,
including serotonin &
cortisol. The gut microbiota produce similar chemicals that
stabilize functions of the brain, including serotonin. It also produces
gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA),
which is an important neurotransmitter for regulating feelings of anxiety
& fear."
Other microbial
chemicals - "Beyond neurotransmitters, gut microbes produce other key
metabolites that influence functions of gut-brain communication.
This includes short-chain
fatty acids,
like butyrate, propionate & acetate, released during dietary fiber
digestion. These acids are involved in functions such as appetite
suppression as well as fortification of the blood-brain
barrier."
Health Benefits of a
Strong Gut-Brain Connection
Improve brain
function -
"A
strong gut-brain connection ensures effective and efficient bidirectional
communication. A more efficient relay along the gut-brain axis can
improve a wide host of functions within
the emotional & cognitive centers of the brain connected to peripheral
intestinal function.
This includes sharper memory & learning skills, ability to focus, &
improved sleep quality."
Mood stability
-
"Because intestinal function plays a key role in the emotional center of
the brain, a fortified gut-brain axis can assist with stabilizing mood.
Also, neurological disorders associated with low levels of mood
stabilizing neuro-transmitters. EG:
Individuals suffering
from neurological dysfunction found in depressive disorders, lack a
sufficient amount of serotonin, produced by bacteria Bifidobacterium & Lactobacillus,
the gut that is delivered to the brain."
Reduced inflammation-
"The gut-brain axis also has an important connection through the immune
system.
A strong gut &
microbiome, high in the anti-inflammatory bacteria Faecalibacterium,
can enhance immune system efficiency & reduce chronic inflammation.
Inflammation can weaken the bidirectional relay & promote neurological
disorders, including depression, Alzheimer’s & Autism."
Reduced gut
permeability- "A
sound gut-brain axis can also benefit the strength of the intestinal wall.
Prolonged stress is known to be a key promoter of increased
intestinal permeability, also known a ‘leaky
gut,’ via
chronic inflammation in the digestive system. Protection of the
intestinal walls reduces risk of dysbiosis,
bacterial endotoxin seepage from the gut, and production of neuroactive
metabolites in the gut. These harmful chemicals play a role in the
development of several neurological disorders associated with
leaky gut, including autism & schizophrenia."
Gut-Brain Axis Can Be
Altered -
"A negative change in our gut-brain axis can lower the gut &
brain’s ability to communicate. This can give rise to a variety of poor
health outcomes, including suppressed immune function, neurological
dysfunction, & increased risk of leaky gut development. The most
common cause of alteration of the gut-brain axis is dysbiosis. Unfavorable
changes in the gut microbiome can occur from a variety of controllable &
uncontrollable causes: poor diet & sleep habits, infection, digestive
distress, & gastrointestinal disorders."
Improve Health &
Gut-Brain Connection - "A balanced diet that fortifies the gut
microbiota has been recognized as a key factor in improving our gut-brain
connection & overall health. Foods that enhance the health of our
microbiome & gut-brain axis we want to prioritize in our diet include
prebiotic & probiotic foods.
Prebiotic foods
contain fibers that
boost growth of microbiota by feeding good gut microbes, like bacteria.
‘High-fiber foods’ whole wheat products, berries & beans. Prebiotic
supplements are
also beneficial if our diet is lacking in fiber-rich foods.
Additionally, probiotics contain live strains of beneficial bacteria that
can add to our gut microbiome to improve diversity & strength. Foods known
to be high in probiotics are fermented (organic non GMO)
foods, like kimchi, tempeh, pickles, sourcrout + yogurt & kefir from A2
dairy (goat/sheep/Jersey cow)... Search
for a probiotic supplement that contains strains of Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus
&
yeast Saccharomyces,
which are known to be most effective in improving gut-brain
communication. By prioritizing prebiotic & probiotic foods +
high-quality supplements. This can help to keep our microbiome rich,
diverse & gut-brain axis functioning efficiently for best whole-body
health."

Lectins -
https://gundrymd.com/reduce-lectins-diet/ -
(edited) The primary defense
most plants have against predators like us are a group of proteins called
Lectins…like
little barnacles that look for specific sugar molecules in our blood, the
lining of our gut, & on our nerves. When
they find a good spot to land, they cling to those cells, breaking down
their ability to communicate with our immune systems.
Then, they literally tear open little holes between the cells that line
our intestines. This perforation is the cause of Leaky Gut Syndrome,
which we’re learning can cause a great deal of unpleasant symptoms &
autoimmune issues or symptoms similar to those of food poisoning.2
So, you can see, these plants are literally
declaring war on our
bodies, dropping little bombs that
wreak havoc on our intestines &
immune systems. In fact, some lectins can actually
paralyze
certain bugs. So, clearly their
defensive (natural pesticide) operations are working. (But when
fed to cattle, stock may be healthier than herder, as germ/nutrition is in
skin/hull/ husk, so there are definite trade offs & safeguards.
CAUTION: Much of today’s problems are due to Genetic alteration of
both animal & human feed +
pesticide/ insecticide increases which thus in turn increase the natural
plant pest protection affecting our GI systems .)
Limit the intake of the
lectin-rich foods
1. Beans & Legumes
– Beans carry more lectins than any other food. Limit beans, peas,
lentils, & other legumes or cook them in a pressure cooker. Some
legumes hide
as nuts – so it’s best to
cut out peanuts & cashews as well.
2. Grains – Most grains
are lectin bombs, as well as gluten-free grain substitutes. Limit grain
intake. If you must, eat white flour not wheat [esp. if/when you
(family tree) is plagued with cited medical issues].
3. Squash –
Any
vegetable with seeds is actually considered a fruit:
squash, pumpkins, & zucchini. Their seeds & peels are full of
lectins. If you MUST eat squash, make sure to toss the peels & seeds aside.
4. Nightshades are vegetables that include
eggplant, any kind of
pepper, potatoes & tomatoes.
The peels
& the seeds
of these plants contain loads of lectins, too.
Peel, deseed, pressure cook
or ferment them to reduce the lectins.
5.
In-Season Fruit
– It’s nature’s candy, so limit the quantity you
eat. When in season
add fruit to diet.
Cut out the following foods entirely
6.
Corn & corn-fed ‘free-range’ meats
– Corn
is among the worst lectin-filled grains. Farmers
use corn for the sole purpose of fattening up cattle. Guess what? Corn has the same
effect on us. Not only that, it causes fatty deposits in the muscle.
Avoid ‘Free-Range’ meats which means the cattle are eating corn &,
therefore, so are you. Instead, opt for only
pasture-raised meats.
7.
Casein A1 Milk –
A couple thousand years ago cows in North Europe
suffered a genetic mutation. The result was a
lectin-like protein in their
milk called casein A1 which is converted to a protein called
beta-casomorphin which can prompt an immune attack on the pancreas of
people who consume milk or cheese from these cows.
Most store-bought milk in your
grocery store, even if it’s organic, is A1 milk. Unmutated cows, found
primarily in Southern Europe, produce a safe protein called casein A2.
Lactose intolerant people may be affected by casein A1.
They may wish to consider eliminating casein A1 milk from diet &
trading for
A2 (African/Jersey/Guernsey/Southern European cow, goat/sheep or buffalo) milk. Health foods stores are pretty good about carrying these (preferably
raw/organic/non GMO). Consider these
milks an indulgence & consume only in moderate
quantities.

was founded in New Zealand in 2000 to commercialise a
genetic test
to determine whether a cow will produce milk without the A1 protein, &
to market the milk it produces as A2 or A2 MILK.[12][15][16]
In 2003, A2's website said: "Beta casein A1 may be a primary risk factor
for heart disease in adult men, & also be involved in the progression of
insulin-dependent diabetes in children" & the CEO had linked A1 to
schizophrenia & autism.[17]
...
On
average, more than 70% of Guernsey cows produce milk with predominantly A2
protein"

Lectins @
https://cdn.gundrymd.com/textVersion/textVersion230510a.htm
- (heart surgeon's edited excerpt) "Get rid
of the poop smoothly & cleanly, like a brand new drain pipe in your
bathroom.
But here’s the problem... Because these gut walls are so thin, they can
sometimes tear. Certain things are especially good at causing tears.
The worst of these are called LECTINS.
Lectins are sharp, nasty little proteins found in certain
kinds of food.
Remember when I told you that whole grain bread is terrible for you?
That’s because those whole wheat grains contain LECTINS.
The lectins are inside those dark brown husks of the grain seeds.
You can actually imagine them looking like smaller versions of those
pointy little seeds.
These sharp, microscopic lectins are also in the skin (&
seeds) of several kinds of vegetables, including:
Tomatoes, Eggplant & Red bell peppers... (Tomatoes,
bell peppers, & eggplants weren’t introduced to western civilization until
1492… when Christopher Columbus discovered them in the new world & brought
them back to Europe)... When these sharp lectins get into your gut,
WATCH OUT.
Because they TEAR the lining of your gut walls, creating small holes.
So if you have to eat bread, I recommend white SOURDOUGH… which has far
fewer lectins than whole wheat alternatives. Speaking of lectins,
think back to your bathroom now… (Consider gluten free bread.)
Imagine flushing sharp, rusty nails down the toilet. Maybe you could flush
1-2 & be okay, but if you flushed handfuls of rusty nails for days or
weeks, after a while they would scrape little holes in your pipes.
Pretty soon, little bits of dirty sewage will start leaking out of the
pipe… into our house's walls, floors, & foundation. I know,
this sounds pretty gross, but you need to hear it...
Because unfortunately, this is what can happen in your GI tract.
This is what I & a growing number of experts now refer to as LEAKY GUT…
lectins & other bad guys tearing holes in your gut lining,
allowing tiny particles of poop to leak out into your bloodstream.
Once this happens, you can start to see why Leaky Gut can cause so many
health problems.
Once they get into your bloodstream, these dirty particles storm across
your entire body, like an invading horde.
If these toxins get into your joints, they can cause aches & pain.
If they get into your skin, they can cause itchiness, redness, acne, &
rashes.
If they get into your upper GI tract, they can cause heartburn &
indigestion.
If they get into your heart tissue, they can cause the kind of deadly
health issues (that) I spent my entire career trying to prevent… including
heart disease, & even death...The worst part?
To our brain, all of these terrible things are perceived as 'attacks”'on
our body...the same as if you have a virus. So our brain goes on
high-alert to 'threat level red' to stop these attacks, sending white
blood cells to fix the problem... What happens when brain cells start to
die…
Headaches, brain fog, & losing our mental sharpness are just the 1st signs
of damage...
Most societies historically removed the dark wheat husk & instead ate
white bread...which is not a coincidence.
Because it’s in the dark husk (nutritious bran)
that gut-destroying lectins are contained. This may be why
Asians, who have been eating rice for thousands of years, (sometimes)
prefer to eat WHITE rice, not brown.
However, since about 1970, the use of
supposedly 'healthy' brown rice & whole wheat breads & pastas have
skyrocketed in our society... (CAUTION: It is the grain/wheat/oat
GERM/bran that is invaluable. Much of the PROBLEM is that the
current grains, esp. wheat are NOT the original, but altered over the
centuries, somewhat like the dairy milk changed from A2 to A1, with
devestatiing GI results to consumers, in addition to NOT being organic)...
Each culture also eats specific foods that seem to
COUNTERACT the bad effects from lectins.... It’s
not the foods themselves that do it… These foods feed
certain bacteria so they make a compound that helps your body naturally
repair itself. The “repairman” in your gut is an incredible compound
called Butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid. It’s 1 of the
most important substances in our entire body... (which) neutralizes
inflammatory enzymes, meaning it soothes the gut walls. It’s a
powerful antioxidant, meaning it helps reduce the stress on our cells &
use the preferred fuel for our brain & mitochondria, whose job is to
manufacture energy in every 1 of our cells. But most important of
all, butyrate helps strengthen the cells in our gut lining...
By nourishing our gut lining, it basically is tightening the 'junctions'
that connect every cell of your gut walls.
So if the walls have holes, or 'leaks', butyrate comes by like a
repairman, & helps our cells patch up the holes.
In fact, butyrate also supports the mucosal lining of our gut, which is
the protective barrier that keeps the walls safe & our digestion working
right. If our gut was a broken deck, butyrate doesn’t just help
patch the holes… it throws in a few coats of weather sealant on top.
So that’s what butyrate does on a scientific
level:

Some
“Plants...produce (natural insecticides) chemical compounds, like lectins,
to repel microorganisms, insects, & other pests2...
(Continuous consumption of plant lectins may also contribute to human &
animal GI perforation, when) normally tight junctions of our intestinal
wall widen, allowing various undigested food particles, toxins & bacteria
to pass into the bloodstream3… Soaking, cooking,
(fermenting) & sprouting, among other techniques, all dramatically reduce
the amount of lectins, to the point that most of us don’t get (adverse)
symptoms… (Consider reducing) giving up [nightshades (white potatoes &
eggplant/tomatoes/peppers, esp. their seeds) baked] beans, (legumes)
peas/peanuts/soybeans & lentils…
Almost everyone has
antibodies to some dietary lectins…
When
lectins enter our bloodstream, they can stimulate an immune system
response.
Some foods, especially if (raw or) improperly prepared, can
trigger a very obvious immune response.
This can cause inflammation of
the digestive tract, possibly leading to nausea, diarrhea & vomiting.
1 example is lectin poisoning by raw or undercooked soaked kidney
beans, which have a very high lectin content. (This nearly disappears
when kidney beans are cooked well, until soft: Raw kidney beans contain
from 20,000-70,000 lectin units, while fully cooked beans usually contain
between 200-400 units)5
Lectins can
trigger an immune response, & have been linked to autoimmune inflammatory
conditions like
(Crohn’s, Celiac)
or bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis & type 1 diabetes…
(Since many grains & other foods have been altered over the generations,
best to choose organic non genetically modified, such as gluten-free grain
products… Additionally) consider Precision

- PROLOGUE: "This book is about the effects on human health of a
tiny protein fragment called beta-casomorphin-7, or BCM7 for short. BCM7
is unquestionably a powerful opioid & hence a narcotic. It is also an
oxidant. It is formed by digestion of a particular type of milk protein
produced by some cows. This milk protein is called A1 beta-casein. The
BCM7 that is released from A1 beta-casein has been implicated in many
illnesses, including heart disease, Type 1 diabetes and autism. There is
increasing evidence that it is associated with milk intolerance & an
additional range of auto-immune diseases. Metaphorically, it is ‘the devil
in the milk’...we do have to drink milk from cows that have been tested & found to be free of what is called the A1 variant (or ‘allele’) of the
beta-casein gene. Milk that is free of A1 beta-casein is known as A2 milk.
All milk used to be A2 milk until a natural mutation affected some
European cows a long time ago... INTRODUCTION - A2 milk it is
not particularly difficult to convert a herd of cows so that they produce
only A2 milk, but it typically takes about 10 years (roughly 2 generations
of cows) to make the change. Therefore, if the issue of A1 versus
A2 milk becomes important to a lot of consumers, farmers will have needed
to start acting before the market demands that they do so. Also,
during the period of transition there are marketing issues as to how a
company can position both A1 & A2 milk in the marketplace... CHAPTER

Other ways to reduce lectins in your diet
13.
Use a pressure cooker
– If you’re cooking with beans, tomatoes, potatoes & quinoa, the
pressure cooker
is your best bet for destroying plant lectins. A pressure cooker
will NOT remove lectins in wheat, oats, rye, barley, or spelt.
14.
Peel and Deseed your fruits and
veggies – If you’re going to use
lectin-rich plant foods: peel & de-seed them. Often, the most harmful part of a plant is it’s
lectin-filled hull, peel, or rind.
To reiterate, the
peels
& seeds are often where lectins are hiding, so eliminate that
plant part (for any GI problems).
15.
White over brown
– Finally, if in fact you must eat grains, opt for white over brown. Instead of brown rice, eat white rice. Instead of whole wheat bread, find
a healthier version of white bread. Turns out, though many believe
brown rice is healthier than it’s white counterpart, those who eat rice as
their staple grain have always stripped the hull off of brown rice before
they eat it. That’s because the hull contains all the dangerous lectins.
(When the nutritious bran of discarded grain is fed to cattle, stock may
be healthier than herder, as vitamins/germ is in skin/hull/husk, so there
are definite trade offs & safeguards. CAUTION. Much of
today’s problems are due to Genetic alteration of both animal & human feed

pesticide/insecticide increases which thus in turn increase the natural
plant pest protection afflicting our GI systems. Thus we are blaming the
plant over the synthetic overload used in modern farming. Thus our

N-Acytl-Cysteine, which is used in MaxGXL Demand Release. We’ve all
heard of time release vitamins (with toxic binders)... MaxONE takes it
to the next level with on-demand release. The RiboCeine is absorbed
into the cells where it waits. When the body needs to make more
glutathione & seperates it into the cysteine & ribose which are then used for
glutathione & ATP production." |

Nicotine is the most well
known of the nightshade
alkaloids.
It's produced by the tobacco plant, which is a nightshade plant. A number
of drugs & pesticides are derived from nightshade
alkaloids. (What they do to pests is also what they can do to humans, esp.
in excess.)

Nicotine
-
https://www.sciencedaily.com/terms/nicotine.htm
- Nicotine is an alkaloid found in the nightshade family of plants
(Solanaceae), predominantly in tobacco,
& in lower quantities in tomato, potato, eggplant (aubergine), & green
pepper. Nicotine alkaloids are also found in the leaves of the coca plant.
Nicotine constitutes 0.3-5% of the tobacco plant by dry weight, with
biosynthesis taking place in the roots & accumulates in the leaves. It is a potent
neurotoxin
& is included in many insecticides.
In lower concentrations, the substance acts as a stimulant & is 1 of the main
factors responsible for the dependence-forming properties of
tobacco smoking.

Nightshades -
https://gundrymd.com/nightshade-vegetables/
“Approximately 50 species of nightshade plants can be found right here in
North America.1
Nightshades get their name from the
toxic alkaloids
found in several of the species. Now,
alkaloids can sometimes contain nitrogen & oxygen & can have certain drug-like
effects on people.2
Some of the most known alkaloids are (ine's) strychnine, caffeine,
nicotine, & morphine. So you can see why the
toxic alkaloids in the foods on this nightshade vegetable list could
inspire people throughout history to consider these as
evil plants...
3 Eggplant (Fruit) + Tomatoes (Fruit) +
Tomatillo (Fruit) + Potatoes (Vegetable) + Goji Berries (Fruit) + Pimentos
(Fruit) + Peppers (Bell, Chili, Paprika, Cayenne) (Fruit) + Tobacco
(Leaf)…4
Nightshades (problem) are the natural pesticides
found within each plant…called glycoalkaloids, much
like lectins,
a plant’s (natural) 1st line of defense against bugs, viruses, bacteria,
animals, & even humans…
Nightshades might be known to cause
leaky
gut, digestive issues,
joint pain, autoimmune disease…
They grip onto cholesterol in your body’s
cell membranes. Now, the cholesterol is there to strengthen your cell
membranes so they’re less permeable to molecules that may want to pass
through & cause damage to
the cell. Without cholesterol, your cell membranes wouldn’t be
strong enough to keep out these molecules. It’s the perfect place for
glycoalkaloids to strike because once the cholesterol is attacked, our
cells could split or leak.6
This can lead to some tough health
issues.
Again, the job of glycoalkaloids is to
damage your cell membranes.
1 of the things to note
about glycoalkaloid toxins is that they take your body a long time to
process, more than a day in some cases.7
If you’re scarfing (heaping) potatoes (or even “healthy” eggplant)
every day, you could end
accumulating a hefty helping of this
natural toxin…
When Europeans came across the
eggplant,
they dubbed it “mala insane” (mad apple).
They surmised the eggplant was
part of a species of poisonous plants.
Today, it’s known that eggplants produce 2 different glycoalkaloids:
alpha-solamargine &
alpha-solasonine. These potent
glycoalkaloids can be found throughout the eggplant, including peel, seeds
& meat (pulp). Eggplant
(aka Solanum melongena L.) glycoalkaloids are toxic organic compounds.
In 2 types of Iranian eggplants, a number of arsenic & strychnine-like
effects on human health have been recorded, including
GI disorders
& confusion.8
When it comes to
tomatoes,
you’ll find 2 types of glycoalkaloids: alpha-tomatine &
dehydro-tomatine. But, tomatine is a compound that actually includes both
tomato glycoalkaloids. You can find tomatine throughout the entire
tomato (esp. seeds). Now, tomatine content changes due to the maturity of
the plant. For instance, an immature green tomato could consist of
approximately 500 mg/kg of tomatine, while red, riper tomatoes might only
have about 5 mg/kg of the glycol-alkaloid.9
According to
the
U.S. National Library of Medicine, the following symptoms may occur:
Swelling, Redness. Pain at mucous membranes, Coughing/wheezing.
Symptoms akin to leaky gut,
like nausea, vomiting, & diarrhea10
The 2 glycoalkaloids in
potatoes
(not sweet nor yams, but white & most other spuds) are
alpha-solanine
& alpha-chaconine.
Of all the glycoalkaloids found in
nightshade foods, these are the
worst.
They happen to be the
most toxic...11
There are also reports of
people getting glycoalkaloid poisoning from potatoes & experiencing the
following symptoms: heart health issues + mood issues + Gastrointestinal
discomfort + Vomiting + Diarrhea12…
If your potatoes are
sprouting or contain odd
green spots, you’ll want to
get rid
of them immediately. (Blighted potatoes caused psychiatric issues during
Irish famine)…
The skins house the highest content of glycoalkaloids…
Tobacco (smoke) ingestion can include:
Escalated oxidative stress & increased
visual signs of aging, Reduction of antioxidants & micronutrients in the
body, Redness, puffiness, & joint
discomfort, Potential weakened immune system status, Changes in your lipid
levels, Respiratory issues such as coughing, phlegm & wheezing, Addiction, Gum health issues, Difficulty breathing,
Degeneration in the eyes,
Issues with the ability to conceive children18
Several unripe nightshade vegetables contain some nicotine. Of
course, nicotine content is greater in the leaves of the tobacco plant.
Many researchers view nicotine as another version of lectins.
Nicotine can act as a plant’s natural defense or pesticide, though
scientists aren’t entirely sure just how the drug prevents predators from
coming after the plant itself. The nicotine content in
riper nightshades can range anywhere from 2-7 micrograms per kg of the
food. Now some researchers have discussed the
possibility of nicotine being the reason some people become addicted to
nightshade foods. It could be the nicotine. If you have
some sort of autoimmune disease or are suffering from a leaky gut, try
cutting out nightshades. Great
replacements for these foods: avocado, Brussels sprouts, & Jerusalem artichokes.
If you or someone in your family is allergic or sensitive to these foods,
remove them from your diet & take note of how you feel after
having removed them. To review, the foods you want to
stay away from are
eggplants, tomatoes,
tomatillos, potatoes, Goji berries, pimentos, ground cherries, bell
peppers, chili peppers, paprika, cayenne & tobacco leaf.

Nightshades
(the solanaceae) are an economically
important family of flowering plants. The family ranges from annual
& perennial herbs to vines, lianas, epiphytes, shrubs, & trees, &
includes a number of important agricultural crops, medicinal plants,
spices, weeds & ornamentals. Many members of
the
family contain potent alkaloids, and some are highly toxic, but
many, including tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, bell and chili
peppers, & tobacco are widely used.

your glutathione levels corected, you won't begin to have proper
methylation, a process by which a hydrogen ion is removed from the ell &

Butter (preferably A2 such as sheep/goat) @

- "Butyrate
& Your (Gut) Health -
Butyrate is
1 of the short chain fatty acids your intestinal
microbiota synthesize when
they break down undigested carbohydrates, such
as dietary fiber & resistant starches. The main 3 SCFAs
metabolized by the microbiome are acetate, propionate, &
butyrate (at 60%, 25%, & 15% respectively). Though
it may be the 3rd most prolific SCFA in the intestines, it is 1
of the most important. It is the major energy source of
colonocytes (an epithelia cell found in the colon) & helps
maintain the mucosal (surface membrane)
health in the colon. Most of the butyrate you consume
or that is produced remains in the gut to be used there. (Propionate is
primarily used in the liver, & acetate enters into the systemic
circulation to be used by the rest of the body.)
Butyrate & the rest of the SCFAs have many jobs in the
body, including as signaling molecules. Butyrate has
been shown to have a role in gene regulation, cell
differentiation, immune
modulation,
regulation of the intestinal barrier, intestinal motility, diarrhea
control,
& visceral sensitivity. Furthermore, it is an activator of
the G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) & an inhibitor of histone
deacetylase (HDAC)... Always balance. It acts
as an anti-inflammatory
agent in
the colon & may modulate oxidative stress in
the colonic mucosa. Oral butyrate (0.5% of sodium
butyrate) in the diet of mice helped improve acute
ulcerative colitis after
14 days. In a small human study, butyrate enemas reduced visceral
sensitivity (a
common symptom in IBS and other functional gastrointestinal
diseases where there is a reduced threshold for pain &
discomfort in the abdomen caused by distension,
pressure, or stimulation) in a dose-dependent manner.
Additionally, some researchers speculate that butyrate may offer
some level of protection against colon
cancer. Some early studies
have shown promise, although more research is necessary to
define the relationship. Studies have found an inverse
relationship between fiber intake & the incidence of colorectal
cancer. Many
hypothesize butyrate as the important mediator of this
relationship.
It may also have extra-intestinal
effects, with preliminary
studies (mostly animal & mechanistic studies) linking butyrate
and benefits to chronic illnesses such as diabetes, obesity. It
may also support brain
health. It also may
have an anti-inflammatory effect in adipocytes (specialized fat
storage cells), which may help improve insulin
sensitivity. 1 mouse study
also found supplementing the diet with butyrate helped
slow the progression of atherosclerosis."
Other butyrate
sources include:
-
Inulin (chicory root, dandelion greens, garlic, onion,
leeks, & asparagus)
-
Whole grain cereals (if

(edited excerpts) “Most all autoimmune disease starts in the
gut, as well as most mental health issues: Depression, anxiety,
ADHD, autism, dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's. The biggest
thing they're finding is obesity. It is all related to these
phyla or families of bacteria that should be inhabiting our gut.
We have the wrong types that predominating in our gut. For
example there are 4 main phyla or families of bacteria living in
most people's gut. The most common or the Firmicutes & the
Bacteroidetes. The Firmicutes, I know it sounds crazy, you think
Firmicutes will make you firm, no. They make you fat… When you
have a predominance of Firmicutes you crave sugars, carbs, &
starches… Too many Firmicutes…literally cause your body to
extract more calories out of the foods & cause you to crave more
foods. DR. COLBERT: They got in there (allowed to overgrow)
usually by their doctors prescribing antibiotics,
anti-inflammatories like aspirin & ibuprofen & other
anti-inflammatories. DR. COLBERT: Especially acid blocking
meds. G.M.O. (genetically modified) foods that came out in
the '90s have natural pesticides in them in the form of Round
Up, or glyphosate as part of the plant that we're eating.
(The harm intended for bugs now boomerangs & harms humans who
consume these plants.) GM foods can cause this condition called
increased intestinal permeability where tight junctions between
our intestinal cells are stretched open. When we take
anti-inflammatories, antibiotics acid-blocking drugs or
genetically modified foods, many times our intestinal barrier
cells are pried open allowing predigested food to go into our
intestinal tract & blood stream. That causes inflammation which
can lead to diabetes, Alzheimer's. Why? Because
inflammation eventually perforates the blood-brain barrier
allowing brain inflammation. Overgrowth of bad bacteria can also
cause inflammation throughout the body & eventually lead to
autoimmune disease. But it all starts usually with meds or
genetically modified foods we are taking. Thre are 3 main
grains that perpetuate the problem & keep prying open those
cells, increasing intestinal permeability, allowing not-digested
food into the bloodstream. #1 problem is a protein, gluten,
found abundantly in 3 main grains: Wheat, barley & rye but
especially wheat. Most all bread, pasta, pretzels & cereal
contain gluten. (Steer toward organic or sprouted grains.)
Gluten starts to feed & overpopulate Firmicutes (bad bacteria &
fungus) in the gut. DR. COLBERT: Chips is usually corn,
typically a genetically modified (GM) food. Another problematic
food ingredient is lectin. Lectins are proteins in the fiber of
grains like wheat, corn & brown rice. These proteins are not
digested. Instead they go into & pry open the intestinal
tract cells, allowing inflammation throughout the gut. DR.
COLBERT: Leaky gut symptoms, especially after eating can be:
bloating & gas, irritable bowel type symptoms, abdominal
cramping, pain, constipation or diarrhea, brain fog, fatigue.
JAMES: In the medical community & pharmaceuticals, they're
trying to help, we've learned that antibiotics kill (both
bad & good) bacteria. You don't take something to offset
damaging the good bacteria. DR. COLBERT: 70-80% of our
immune system is right here in this gut. If a person has
pneumonia or kidney infections, we need antibiotics. The
majority of the doctors do not prescribe probiotics after taking
those antibiotics. So they leave the gut & the microbiome
decimated & don't feed it the foods that bring the population of
good bacteria back. We have to give the body both probiotics &
prebiotics, & not the sugars, carbs & starches that feed the bad
bacteria, in order to restore the immune function of the body.
JAMES: This is a cure to get these cells back where they're
not open to the invader/trespasser/destroyer/ unhealthy alien.
DR. COLBERT: we build on the Keto Zone program, but we find
that certain foods on the Keto Zone actually can hurt the gut. #1, foods that hurt the gut that are keto friendly are the
dairy. What dairy you can have. Instead of regular cheese,
choose Feta cheese which is 70% & 30% goat. Feta cheese doesn't
have the casein A1 that inflames the gut. (A2
cheese, butter, cream or milk from Jersey cows, goats, sheep is
a safe alternative.) DR. COLBERT: Feta, sheep & goat cheese
are generally healthy for the gut, whereas dairy/milk casein,
especially A-1 actually usually inflames the gut.
Conventional A1 (even organic A1) butter, cheese, cream,
coconut oil, fatty meats & fried food can inflame the gut. Let
food be our medicine so we can restore the gut. DR.
COLBERT: When I go to a restaurant, I carry my own bottle of
high phenolic olive oil in a bag. I start with a big
salad. Lots of gut healthy green veggies, onions & mushrooms.
Then I pour 3-4 tablespoons of my olive oil all over it. DR.
COLBERT: Ghee is the best butter, but only as a garnish, a small
amount (because we need to ward off) lipopolysaccharide
gram bacteria cells that are in the gut that literally ride &
hide on saturated fats & go through those little increasing
intestinal permeability & then inflame the body & brain.
Alzheimer's patients have 3x as much lipopolysaccharide as
normal brains. They inflame the brain & set the stage for
Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's. Colbert, Dr. Don

(edited excerpt) “1 day I awakened with a rash all over my
hands. It's red, it's itching; all over my elbows, knees &
thighs. This was…’the heartbreak of psoriasis’… I found out
that when I fasted it went away. But when I was stressed out or
ate anything fried or certain foods, it flared up…I said,
‘I'm going to check my gut’... A lot of the foods I ate were
actually inflaming my gut… I had developed tremendous food
sensitivity… I identified that gluten was not my friend,
which is in wheat... I also found that (nightshade foods)
tomatoes & peppers were highly inflammatory to my gut… I
found out on this food sensitivity test. DR. COLBERT: I had
leaky gut…The antibiotics had decimated my gut. I'd failed to
plant the good bacteria back. I was trained like regular
doctors. We didn't give probiotics back then in the '80s.
So I started healing my gut, taking probiotics & some healthy
fiber, not wheat bran (which) would decimate my gut, some
psyllium husk powder that actually contained prebiotics that fed
the good bacteria. I cut out the foods harming my body. I kept
eating the beans, which I shouldn't have because (baked) beans
are high in lectins which actually can damage the gut. Within 3
months psoriasis totally gone. My dermatologist said, ‘I've
never seen anyone get over psoriasis.’ The whole key is I
developed a condition that's termed ‘leaky gut’ which means
increased intestinal permeability. A leaky gut, is not that
you're soiling your undergarments. Our intestinal cells
are in our small intestines, which are about 20 feet long &
where we absorb our nutrients. It's 1 cell thick & has these
fingerlike projections called villi. Meds doctors prescribe like
antibiotics, anti-inflammatories (aspirin, ibuprofen) that we
take commonly as well as acid-blocking meds & G.M.O. foods,
start to damage these villi. When we start to break down
this intestinal barrier, it literally pries open these cells &
causes increased permeability or leaky gut. Instead of
working as a barrier function to keep out, it lets in the bad.
Undigested foods, bacteria, yeast, toxins, & chemicals start to
be absorbed creating tremendous inflammation. That process
continues & (can) lead eventually to systemic disease,
autoimmune disease, brain diseases, anxiety, depression, ADHD,
dementia, problems remembering, diabetes & obesity… The
answer is 1st the diet to restore the integrity of the gut &
those tight junctions in the gut. We remove the foods that
damage the gut. Once the gut is compromised, we find that
usually gluten is the main enemy to the gut. Of course,
we've got to stop the meds, the antibiotics. A lot of people
have been on antibiotics for years, especially acne sufferers.
People of that have had recurrent infections are just always on
antibiotics which decimate the gut & cause bad bacteria to grow.
So we've got to search for a natural instead of chemical
cure… Wheat is #1 food that damages those tight junctions, pries
the gut open & increases Zonulin. Picture poking holes in
a tea or coffee strainer… The grounds are going to enter into the
pot & not filter the grounds out. So when you drink that coffee,
it's going to be full of grounds. That's similar to a leaky
gut. You're supposed to chew at least 20-30 times. Undigested
food is absorbed in the gut creating food sensitivities &
inflammation in the gut. That becomes food for the bad
bacteria… JAMES: Is like a poison pocket? DR. COLBERT: It
becomes thousands & eventually millions of little, teeny
microscopic holes working like the ice pick in the coffee filter
where it is not providing a barrier function. The Gut membrane
that God created allows in the nutrients that we need but it
filters out all the bad, including bad: bacteria, yeast &
undigested food that will damage your gut. JAMES: When it is
not filtered out & it gets in, it is like a disease pocket…
COLBERT: We avoid gluten for a season & some people forever.
Sugar especially creates dysbiosis which is excessive
amounts of these bad bacteria so the gut never heals. Bacteria
feed on sugar, carbs & starches. We remove certain
things for a season, like regular (high fat) cheese & cream
because they have lipopolysaccharides… DR. COLBERT:
(Seeds/baked) beans are full of lectins (nature’s bug
repellant) especially as an outer coating on the beans
but it's also in (most) every grass like wheat, corn & brown
rice. Their lectins damage the gut. Now most of our food is
harvested early when most of these foods have the highest lectin
content. Lectin is simply a protein in the skins
&
seeds of like potatoes, tomatoes, & peppers. But it's also in
beans, peas, lentils, wheat, corn & soybean (legumes). We feed
most of our chickens corn or soybeans, our cattle & pigs,
soybeans & corn to fatten them up for market, high lectin foods.
So it's in most meat (not entirely range fed). We want to get
pasture-raised pasture-finished chickens, hens, eggs, or eggs...
DR. COLBERT: Organic is the best, that
are fed flax seeds, which are high in omega-3. DR. COLBERT:
Add fiber. A key fiber is psyllium husk powder…a soluble
/insoluble fiber that provides wonderful fuel for the cells of
the gut as well as for the good bacteria to empower good
bacteria to heal your leaky gut. It is dirt cheap. Start
with maybe a half teaspoon to a teaspoon a day in water. It's
best with cold water… DR. COLBERT: Work up to a heaping
teaspoon. Take probiotics. Follow your diet with lots of olive
oil, avocado oil, lots of healthy fats. I start every morning
with a half an avocado with some eggs. I have the gluten free
toast made with rice or cassava. I pour my olive oil on top. I
have a little bowl of berries. It's really simple & I'm full.

Good fungi & good bacteria work in synergy to sustain a

MegaSporeBiotic - The use of spores as
probiotics is highly important as spores are designed to
survive through the gastric system & colonize well to produce the
needed effects. Additionally, spores make a potent impact in the gut
since the spore population in the gut is low enough that the 4
billion spores added each day through MegaSporeBiotic will make a
potent impact on the sensory systems in the gastro-intestinal tract
to
create
beneficial effects. Spores are also important to police & defend the gut
from unwanted microbes & to support the growth
of the natural species found in each individual. A culmination of
published research shows that spores, like those found in
MegaSporeBiotic, when used as probiotics could confer the following
beneficial effects:
Immune modulation to reduce allergies & asthma.
- Immune stimulation of peripheral
T-lymphocytes & B-lymphocytes to fight colds, flus &
infections.
Decrease in frequency of urinary tract
infections.
- Reduction in side effects related
to antibiotic therapy.
- Effective treatment for small
intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO).
- Diminished duration of diarrhea in
children 3-36 months of age
- Reduced incidence of irritable
bowel syndrome diarrhea.
- Immune response to adenovirus &
influenza-A in-vitro.
Improvement in pain
scale in
Rheumatoid arthritis patients .
- Reduces the inflammation associated
with Crohn’s disease, IBS, ulcerative colitis.
- Improved growth of the (good) natural
flora (& reduction of bad bacteria overgrowth)
- Improved digestion of food & a
thus improved nutrient absorption.
- Production & absorption of critical
nutrients –i.e. carotenoids, quinols, vitamins &
enzymes.
- Reduced risk of
cardiovascular disease
- Reduction of cholesterol.
- Detoxification of the intestinal
tract (especially regarding food/water pollutants, poisons, RX,
pesticides, vaccines.)Effective
colonization.
(Boston compounding pharmacy recommends most
consumers need only 1 capsule every other day. One can also, transfer
1 capsule into smallest capsule, resulting in approx. 3 capsules, or
take every 3 days. Regardless, start slow with any supplement or

"Start taking probiotic supplements a full 2 weeks before you will leave if you
aren’t taking them already. This period allows the seeding of beneficial
bacterial colonies in the gut prior to travel.
With beneficial probiotics
already strongly present in the gut before you leave, our natural immunity is
optimized. Then, continue with the
probiotic regimen during time
away & continue for at least 2 weeks after returning home...
My
preferred brand for traveling
requires no refrigeration & contains
all the essential strains for traveling:
Lactobacillus acidophilus,
Bifido-bacterium bifidum,
&
soil based organisms
(SBOs)
. The directions for general use suggest 1-2 capsules
per day
with food.
At home, I normally take 1 capsule per day usually after dinner.
But, 2 weeks prior to travel, I increase this to 2 capsules per day which is the
upper limit for general use.
I take 1 capsule after breakfast & another
capsule after dinner. Then, starting the day I travel, I increase to 4
capsules per day as suggested by
Natasha Campbell-McBride MD:
2 capsules after breakfast & another 2 after dinner.
When I return home, I continue with the 4
capsules per day (2 after breakfast & 2 after dinner) for 2 full weeks.
I then
revert back to my usual 1 capsule/day dosage...this
1 is also excellent." |

have your glutathione levels corected, you won't begin to have

true story reveals that when Annabel Beam was 5 years old she was

antral hypomotility
disorder, which resulted in frequent hospital stays (FoxNews.com).
The former is characterized by altered & inefficient contractions

help to move food content along. Instead of food content being passed
efficiently, the intestines react as if there is a blockage, leading
to inefficient absorption of nutrients. The latter, antral

Berberis vulgaris (barberry), a patient came to me just
after being diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). She also had type 2
diabetes, but asked me to specifically focus on fixing her gut problem.
Diagnostic tests showed she had gut fermentation,
with certain unwanted bacteria & yeasts were present in her upper intestines, causing foods to be
fermented rather than digested. I prescribed 1 Tbsp (15 mL) of
Berberis tincture twice daily, along with a supportive gut-healing diet
supplemented by probiotics. This regimen fixed her digestive problems in about 8
weeks. But to my astonishment,
her diabetes also disappeared & even at 6 months after stopping the herb,
it was still gone. |

me. As a food scientist, I was familiar with food processing & microorganism dependent
preservation.
In 1993, the benefit of these organisms became
very apparent to me
when I had my large intestines removed due to
a cancerous condition. Upon recovery from the operation &
cessation of antibiotics, my intestines were in trauma & my
immune system in shambles. A professor at the University
of Maryland sent me a small kefir culture & suggested I make kefir part of my diet.
Within days, my intestinal issues were gone
& a
healthy immune system returned… That's why, when approached by Latta to assist in their kefir
production, I said yes. It matched my interest, belief and passion… Approximately
80% of your immune system resides in your gastrointestinal
system. This immunity is associated with a healthy micro
flora. My surgeon now has all his post-surgical patients
contact me, so that I can supply them with kefir as soon as
they are off of antibiotics. This allows the desirable
bacteria colonize your intestine &
inhibit bad organisms before they have the opportunity to colonize.
Although kefir was new to me, the benefits of this product has been
known for ages.
The word kefir is actually Turkish for ‘feel good”.
I hope others will get to experience these benefits as well as the
good nutrition of kefir…

#1-Lacto-bacillus
rhamnosus, is a bacterium
found in the human gut and
some dairy foods (yogurt, Keifer, Tofu, raw
milk/cheese).
This bacterium can help reduce obsessive-compulsive
disorder (OCD) & can
duplicate or reduce dosage of fluoxetine, an
SSRI
antidepressant commonly
used to treat OCD (6).
#2-Bifido-bacterium
longum is present in the human gut.
It can help prevent the growth of pathogenic
organisms. It can
help
reduce
cortisol &
psychological distress (including obsessions,
compulsions, paranoia, anxiety) (28-30).
It can help reduce anxiety-like behaviour (31-34) & depression

#3-Lacto-bacillus
plantarum, another probiotic species
is found in many
fermented
vegetables including sauerkraut, pickles,
brined olives, kimchi. This bacterium
can help increase
dopamine
& serotonin,
lower
stress hormone levels & reduce inflammation (9-11).
-
-
#4-Lacto-bacillus
helveticus, a probiotic strain
is commonly found in American Swiss & Emmental +
sometimes other cheeses (Cheddar, Parmesan, Romano,
provolone, & mozzarella). This bacterium can
help reduce paranoid & obsessive-compulsive
thoughts (38). It can duplicate or reduce
the RX citalopram, a common
SSRI
antidepressant + may reduce
anxiety &
stress hormone levels
& increase serotonin levels (43).
#5
Lacto-bacillus reuteri can
reduce anxiety-like behaviours in animals
by
reducing stress hormone levels
& altering the expression of GABA
receptors (13-14)
#6-Lactobacillus
reuteri can be
in the
human gut, but some have very low levels or none of
it. One may wish to add (introduce) & maintain this probiotic
bacterium strain to one's diet.
By adding it back in to the guts of test animals, researchers were able to reverse some behavioural
deficits, similar to anxiety & autism (15-16).
Research shows that the bacterium can help
reduce anxiety by
reducing stress hormone levels
& altering the expression of GABA
receptors (13-14). #6-Lacto-bacillus
casei
is a bacterium found in the human gut + in
some naturally fermented: dairy products, vegetables &
Sicilian green olives. This bacterium may help reduce
anxiety, expecially regarding chronic fatigue syndrome
& digestive problems (17-19).
#7-Lactobacillus
fermentum is a species
that is part of the human microbiome & commonly found
in fermented vegetables. This bacterium may help
reduce the inflammation & reverse the psychological
problems brought on by antibiotics,
including anxiety-like behaviour (12).
-
#8- Bifido-bacterium
breve
is a beneficial bacterium found in some
naturally fermented foods, human breast milk & the human
gut, but often declines with age (20). Test animals become
less anxious (21) & perform better on cognitive tests after
being given it (22).
#9-Galacto-oligosaccharides
(GOS) are a type of
prebioticnon-digestible soluble fibres
(prebiotic) that stimulate the growth of
good gut
bacteria
& therefore
improve
mental health
& reduce anxiety.
GOS
can help decrease
secretion
of cortisol,
contributing one's ability to better respond
to positive information rather than negative
information (23).

Like flaxseeds, sesame seeds
contain a lot of lignans, particularly 1 called sesamin.
In fact,
sesame seeds are
the best known dietary source of lignans.
A couple
of interesting studies have shown that sesamin from sesame
seeds may get converted by your gut bacteria into another type

Entero-lactone can act like the sex hormone estrogen, &
lower-than-normal levels of this lignan in the body have been
associated with heart disease & breast cancer (33Trusted

Another study found that postmenopausal women who ate 50 grams
of sesame seed powder daily for 5 weeks had significantly
lower blood cholesterol & improved sex hormone status (34Trusted

Sesame seeds may also help reduce inflammation & oxidative
stress, which can worsen symptoms of many disorders, including
arthritis.
1 study showed that people with knee
osteoarthritis had significantly fewer inflammatory chemicals
in their blood after eating about 40 grams of sesame seed
powder every day for 2 months (35Trusted

"Sesamins
-
Lignans are a large class of
secondary metabolites in plants that have numerous
biological effects in mammals, including
antitumor & antioxidant activities. Some plant lignans,

sesamin, can be converted by
intestinal microbiota to the mammalian lignans (i.e.,
enterodiol & entero-lactone), which may have protective
effects against hormone-related diseases such as breast

Sesamin, the most abundant lignan

"2 major types of intestinal bacteria are particularly
important in cytokine production: lactobacilli & bifido-bacteria.
Most strains of
lactobacilli are robust producers of the inflammatory cytokines such as
TNF-alpha, where most strains of bifido-bacteria are weak cytokine
producers. Bifido-bacteria
are able to decrease the production of cytokines from
lactobacilli, changing their immunological effects.
It is
therefore possible that by manipulating the types of
intestinal bacteria, we can also affect cytokine production & change
mood...
Biological Psychiatry, showed that pro-biotics may offer an
alternative treatment option for depression & other

The journal's editors reported that

'These bacteria are
capable of producing & delivering neuro-active substances such
as gamma-amino-butyric acid [GABA] & serotonin, which act on the

Many of the patients who come in to see me with the diagnosis of Lyme disease suffer from psychological symptoms, including
depression,
anxiety,
& panic disorders. Sometimes they are diagnosed with
OCD,
PTSD,
bipolar disorder, or even
schizophrenia. That is because
Lyme disease is the “great imitator,” mimicking every
psychiatric
diagnosis in an ICD-9 manual. These patients have usually gone
to their primary care provider or psychiatrist with these
complaints, & leave the office with an SSRI like Prozac, a
benzodiazepine like Valium, or antipsychotic
medication like
Risperdal. We are trained as physicians & mental health
providers to automatically go to our prescription pads & write
out scripts for these chemical compounds that change our brain
chemistry. Although this approach is effective in controlling
symptoms, it does NOR always address the under-lying cause of the problem...A
recent study published in
Biological Psychiatry,
showed that probiotics may offer an
alternative treatment option for depression & other
psychiatric conditions.
The journal's editors
reported that healthy volunteers who received a type of
probiotic called Lactobacillus helveticus R0052 + B longum for
30 days reported significantly lower
stress levels than those who received
placebo.
Another study of 124 volunteers (mean age, 61.8 years) showed
that those who consumed probiotic-containing yogurt for 3
weeks had significantly improved mood compared with those who
received placebo.
That is because "as a class of probiotic,
these bacteria are capable of producing & delivering
neuroactive substances such as gamma-aminobutyric acid [GABA]
& serotonin, which act on the brain-gut axis."

survive through the gastric system & colonize well to produce
the needed effects. Additionally, spores make a potent impact in
the gut since the spore population in the gut is low enough that
the 4 billion spores added each day through MegaSporeBiotic will
make a potent impact on the sensory systems in the
gastro-intestinal tract to
create
beneficial effects. Spores are also important to police &
defend the gut from unwanted microbes & to support the
growth of the natural species found in each individual. A
culmination of published research shows that spores, like those
found in MegaSporeBiotic, when used as probiotics could confer the
following beneficial effects: Immune modulation to reduce allergies & asthma.
- Immune stimulation of peripheral
T-lymphocytes & B-lymphocytes to fight colds, flus &
infections.
Decrease in frequency of urinary tract
infections.
- Reduction in side effects
related to antibiotic therapy.
- Effective treatment for small
intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO).
- Diminished duration of diarrhea in
children 3 to 36 months of age
- Reduced incidence of irritable
bowel syndrome diarrhea.
- Immune response to adenovirus &
influenza-A in-vitro.
Improvement in pain
scale in
Rheumatoid arthritis patients .
- Reduces the inflammation
associated with Crohn’s disease, IBS, ulcerative colitis.
- Improved growth of the (good) natural
flora (& reduction of bad bacteria overgrowth)
- Improved digestion of food and a
thus improved nutrient absorption.
- Production and absorption of critical
nutrients –i.e. carotenoids, quinols, vitamins &
enzymes.
- Reduced risk of
cardiovascular disease
- Reduction of cholesterol.
- Detoxification of the intestinal
tract (especially regarding food/water pollutants, poisons,
RX, pesticides, vaccines.)
Effective colonization. (Boston
compounding pharmacy recommends most consumers need only 1 capsule
every other day. One can also, transfer 1 capsule into smallest
capsule, resulting in approx. 3 capsules, or take every 3 days.
Regardless, start slow with any supplement or medication & titrate up, as
prescribed/recommended. Most do best by taking
supplements/RX with lots of liquid & with food.) Each
capsule contains 5 BACILLUS spore varieties: Bacillus
Licheniformis + Bacillus Indicus HU36™ + Bacillus Subtilis
HU58™ + Bacillus Clausii + Bacillus Coagulans

Cashews @
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/what-do-cashews-mangoes-and-poison-ivy-have-in-common/-
"Poison ivy is just 1 member of a family of
trees, the anacardiaceae family, that can
carry an oily irritant that causes a rash... Mango, it turns
out, is also a member of the anacardiaceae family...The anacardiaceae
family of trees, sometimes called the cashew
family, includes mango, poison ivy, poison oak, sumac,
Peruvian pepper, pistachio, & cashews
contain urushiol oil that causes the skin to erupt
in rashes for some... The oil is found in all
parts of the plant, including the leaves, stems, & roots.
Urushiol is the reason cashews are never sold
in the shell & are typically roasted. The oil is found on the
outer shell (similar to mangos, where it’s found on
the skin) & roasting the cashews at high
temperatures can kill any remaining oil that makes
its way through to the nut. The Center for Disease Control
published a report in 1982 about a batch of bags of
shell-contaminated cashews being sold in Pennsylvania &
Maryland...
Toxicodendron vernicifluum, or the
Japanese lacquer tree. This tree produces the sap
used in painting those beautiful lacquered
boxes...

- "Bt-toxin kills insects by
creating small holes (pores) in the
cell walls of their digestive tracts, which
in turn allow bacteria and other substances to pass through.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which labels
Bt corn & Bt cotton plants as registered
pesticides, insists that Bt-toxin will have absolutely
no
influence on human or mammalian cells.
But research published in
the Journal of Applied Toxicology25 in 2012
proves otherwise. Researchers 'documented that modified Bt toxins
[from GM plants] are not inert on human cells, but can exert toxicity.'
In high concentrations (generally higher than that produced in average
Bt corn), Bt-toxin disrupts the membrane in just 24, causing certain
fluids to leak through the cell walls. The authors specifically note,
'This may be due to pore formation like in insect cells.' Thus, Bt-toxin
may indeed create small holes in our intestines."
Garry Gordon, MD,
http://www.westonaprice.org/health-topics/genetically-engineered-foods-may-be-far-more-harmful-than-we-thought/
"warns, 'If [Bt-toxin] is causing an increased
propensity for our intestine to become permeable or leaky and for
foods to be presented to our bloodstream in a premature fashion, the
havoc that it will cause will be across the entire spectrum of disease,
from premature aging and Alzheimer’s to Parkinson’s to autism to
cancer to asthma.'
The EPA had also claimed that Bt-toxin was destroyed during digestion in
humans.
But a 2011 Canadian study conducted at Sherbrooke Hospital
discovered that 93% of the pregnant women they tested had Bt-toxin in
their blood. So too did 80% of their unborn fetuses.26
Thus, not only was the toxin not fully broken down in the stomach,
a
toxin is circulating within our blood stream that might further damage
the cell walls it encounters.
In fetuses, which don’t have developed
blood-brain barriers, this might result in damage to brain cells...
Gene Transfer (from Plant to animal gut flora to human gut flora)
- Finally, trans-genes inserted into GM crops
can transfer to DNA of gut
flora. According to one of the only published human feeding studies on
GMOs, part of the transgenes from Roundup Ready soybeans transferred
into bacteria living inside our intestines.32
In addition, the viral promoter, which turns on
the gene & which forces
continuous production of proteins, was also transferred intact.
The gut bacteria from the human subjects that had acquired these
transgenes were not killed by glyphosate, a powerful broad spectrum antibiotic. The
survival of these bacteria in the presence of glyphosate supports the
likelihood that even after being transferred into the DNA of the gut
flora, the soy transgenes continued to produce the Roundup Ready
proteins. If so, even short term exposure to GM foods might result in
long-term exposure to transgenic proteins that are produced continuously
inside our digestive systems. The medical consequences are
unknown, but potentially catastrophic. Consider the various
genetic components that might transfer & their implications:
The Roundup Ready gene produces a protein that has
properties of a
dust mite allergen, & therefore
fails the World Health Organization’s
recommended allergen screening protocol. If produced by our own gut
bacteria, this protein might
continuously trigger immune
reactions. 1.The viral promoter has the capacity to switch on unintended genes.
It may therefore cause the overproduction of
proteins from
randomly switched-on genes found within the gut bacteria.
2.Antibiotic resistant marker genes, used in most GM food crops, might
create super diseases, untreatable with antibiotics.
3.GM papaya, zucchini & yellow squash have viral trans-genes that may
produce viral proteins. More than 100 studies show that viral proteins
can suppress an organism’s defenses against viral infections33
or have toxic effects.
4.The Bt gene might transfer
from GM corn & convert our intestinal
flora into living pesticide factories.
This last risk may explain the results of a study presented above.
Recall that 93% of pregnant women tested had the Bt-toxin
in their blood. The toxin is likely to wash out of our
blood fairly quickly; thus the consumption of Bt-toxin would have to be very frequent to
explain this finding. But Canadians don’t eat corn products that often.
(Although Canadians & Americans eat a lot of corn derivatives like
(high fructose) corn syrup, the Bt-toxin is destroyed in these highly processed foods, so that would not be the source of this blood contaminant.)
The study authors suggest that the source of
Bt-toxin, which ultimately came from Monsanto’s Bt corn, may
have been acquired in milk & meat
from animals fed the corn. This would require, however, that the
protein remain intact both through the animals’ digestive process and
the humans’. While this might be true, a more plausible explanation
may be that the Bt-toxin was produced by the (human altered)
gut flora within the digestive tract, after the flora acquired the genes
from (GM) corn tortillas, corn on the cob, etc." 10/23/2013

"BiomX focuses on phage therapy using natural
& synthetic
(uck) bacteriophages, viruses that infect & destroy bacteria.
This approach is based on Weizmann Institute & Massachusetts
Institute of Technology research suggesting phage 'cocktails'
could target specific harmful bacteria without disturbing
other residents of the microbiome as antibiotics do.
Phages were discovered 100 years ago but fell out of favor as
a therapy once antibiotics were invented.
Thanks to
research by the Weizmann’s Rotem Sorek & others, it is now understood
how bacteria defend themselves & how
phage therapy can get around
that defense system."

The Dr. Ardis
"Full
GI Panel consists of our Comprehensive Stool Analysis (CSA) & Swab
Culture. The combination of these 2 tests provide full coverage screening
of all intestinal pathogens & is recommended for anyone experiencing
(distressing) GI symptoms. The CSA provides a detailed analysis of
all intestinal parasites (Protozoa, Trematodes,Tapeworms,
Nematodes) from all 7 continents as well as other intestinal organisms
including Candida, yeast, & other fungi. Analysis of bio-indicators such
as red & white blood cells, mucus, fatty acid crystals, starch granules,
undigested tissue, beneficial bacteria, epithelial cells, pollen, &
charcot-leyden crystals is also included. Swabs are taken for
culturing & analysis of bacterial & fungal infections. Sensitivity &
resistance results as well as quantification of positive findings
indicating intensity of infection are also included.
The Swab
Culture can be used for culturing stool, skin, urine, or
any other body parts or secretions, blood can not be
cultured. This test is highly recommended for patients with GI symptoms
who have had negative stool tests for parasites, as the symptoms for
pathogenic bacteria are very similar to those of parasitic infections.
Testing
package is included. Both swab & CSA components of this
test must be sent in at the same time or individual
prices for the tests will be charged."
